Let's hold off judgement. Nintendo has a way of making something fun. Even the Wii U was ultimately a fun machine with some very good points in its favor. It's just not something the masses wanted and wasn't marketed well.
I'm all for ditching my 3DS and Wii U and having one platform to play everything on, but that means Nintendo has a tall order as gamers will want the strengths of both a portable and a console. Very powerful, great graphics and sound, but small and portable with good battery life. As reaper said, it will likely be a lot of compromises, but you never know and can't count Nintendo out until you see the thing in action. I think it's safe to say that they learned a lot from the Wii U and 3DS and they know that this thing has to be a home run for them to stay relevant in the gaming space.

This video proposes the idea that they are using the Tegra X2 which may bring a lot to the table in terms of performance. It's all just rumors now. But I like that idea.

Mario on iOS. If there's even a $0.99 charge for a DLC, they're going to make BANK.

Played a few levels of Paper Mario Color Splash. Decent game but I'm SO glad I didn't buy it. After about 2 or 3 worlds it becomes EXTREMELY repetitive. No compelling story to keep my interest. Glad this was only a Gamefly rental.
While Gamefly is $$, it has helped me save money by convincing my son to rent before trying to decide to buy.

Sigh...
Emily Rogers, who has a fairly solid track record with Switch rumors, writes in a new blog post today that the new Zelda title won’t be ready for March. Rogers heard in September “that the localization for the game was becoming more work than anyone had anticipated” due to “all of the game’s text, NPCs, quests, etc.” She then received word recently that the localization was still not going as smoothly Nintendo had hoped, with one source stating that it’s very ambitious.
Additional sources have since reached out to Rogers this month, indicating that localization won’t be done until the end of December. Zelda: Breath of the Wild will then need at least four-to-six months of testing. Nintendo wants it to be as bug free as it can be, and with its huge scope, lots of testing is involved. Rogers writes that Breath of the Wild is unlikely to drop in March, with Summer 2017 being a more realistic possibility.
Separately from release date talk, Rogers is also hearing that the game is running more smoothly on Switch than Wii U. The final version will also apparently be a bit more difficult compared to the E3 demo. Rogers says that the vertical slice was “toned down” slightly “because they wanted journalists and press members at E3 to have fun exploring.”

Saw that. No Zelda at launch is a bad thing IMHO. They need to knock it out of the park and I don't think Mario can do it by himself.

Ouch. They could delay the switch launch as well. What crap. I'll probably be saving for Scorpio and VR by the time this comes out. I may pass on the game and hold off on Switch indefinitely as well. I think Nintendo will have to convince me. Starting to think about focusing on one console (xbox) the most and only get new stuff from Sony and Nintendo when prices drop or amazing games are out.
I thought Nintendo was going to go for a home run this time.

I don't think they'll move the Switch launch. I do think it's a shame that they can't get Zelda done. Nintendo has so much money that it would be so easy to just hire more people to get that game tested and completed in time, but they won't.
I think the Switch looks like a home run to me. Nintendo seems to be making a system that is more powerful, portable, and looks to have decent 3rd party support. Time will tell if it becomes a hit or another Wii U.

more rumors:
Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Wii U version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not going to hit the previously expected launch date either - with that said, Nintendo still plans to release a Wii U version of the game Mario Switch - the Mario game shown in the Switch reveal trailer is planned as Switch release day title in all territories - this Mario game will feature a 3D open world hub from which different worlds can be selected - there will be multiple objectives to complete in each, much like Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy - the multiplayer teased in the trailer will be a co-op version of the main game - both players will be able to work together, but with a some sort of tether to keep each other from wandering too far - player two’s gameplay will not hold player one back from progress - player two can be the one to complete an objective and be shown as receiving the level end reward - a screen will then show how much of the progress toward that success was down to each player - this Mario title has a demo in development that will be ready for press to play in January 2017 Switch SKUs - two Switch SKUs (stock keeping unit) - the more expensive option will come bundled with a new version of Splatoon Splatoon Switch - 1 vs 1 mode where two players on separate Switches can fight over a map - you can change your weapon of choice mid-game - Nintendo expects the short match nature of Splatoon to translate well to handheld multiplayer - plans to add additional single player content to the game - the Switch version will have a similar free content output schedule to the Wii U version Skyrim Switch port - port is indeed happening - will be out launch day - will allow mods at some time post-launch - mods limited to using existing in-game assets

Did anyone download Super Mario Run on iOS? I was thinking about it but then I learned 2 things.
1. The entire game is essentially an in-app purchase 2. In-app purchases do not get shared with family sharing
So if I buy this game and unlock the content on my iPhone, my kids cannot play it on their iPods. Is this correct?
