I think the prime deal only applies to new games meaning games that were recently released. I think it only works during the first two weeks of a game release. But the BB deal on new games is for any game not pre owned. So a game that has been out for 2 years and the new price is $30, you still get 20%. But at Amazon it would be $30 straight up as I understand it. That is the biggest difference in my mind. reaper is right. The GCU discount applies across the board to all games that are purchased new. The Amazon discount only applies to games released in the first 2 weeks. Keep in mind the other big factor for me is that the GCU discount also applies to amiibos.

I'm in the market for both a subwoofer and a good sound bar. Anyone have any sites for home theater gear they recommend? I haven't been keeping up with Home theater stuff in a while as my last big purchase was in 2011.

I was a fan of Axiom a while back, those're still in my HT. My coworker went with Aperion. I like the online model. Unfortunately, I'm not well versed w/ the sound bars. From my experience, those are very room dependent to sound good. I'm still happily using a Hsu VTF2 from over 10 years ago. I got 2 for my in-laws and we're all happy years later. You can get even better deals if you contact directly for B-stock. Mine came w/ a slight smudge that buffed out. Saved me almost $100. www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-1mk3.htmlBeen a while, so there may be better online retailers. dschroll, IIRC, it was AVS forums where we made the connection. Man, that was years ago.

I'll vouch for Hsu subs as well. Had 2 for over 10 years now (STF-2 and STF-3, no longer sold), and the STF-3 finally died after we moved last month (could have been jostled a little too much). I ended up purchasing a replacement amp and it's working fine once again. Great low frequency for movies (and everything else). Prices are usually very competitive for the sound you get, although they're certainly not cheap. I'd probably get the VTF-2 MK5 if I was in the market for a new one.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I have started poking around AVS a little. Been some time since I've been on that site. Anyway, the HSU looks interesting. Will look into that for sure. Have also been interested in the RSL Speedwoofer 10S. Price is right and so far the reviews have been outstanding. rslspeakers.com/speedwoofer10s/

So, I picked up a Yamaha ATS-1060 from Costco this past weekend. It's a fairly inexpensive soundbar (normal price $199, but Costco sells it for $160 and they currently have it on sale for $120). Anyway, it sounded decent in store and figured I'd give it a shot. People on AVS that have it are pleased with it, but it's nothing fancy.
Ultimately, I just wanted a soundbar for everyday TV listening. We only have 1 TV in our house, and so its used for watching TV shows, movies, playing games, etc. I've been using my 5.1 setup to handle all the audio, but I feel it's overkill having a big power hungry receiver on to just watch stuff like the news. I had a Sony TV stand/soundbar that was designed for my Sony TV, but the movers damaged it over here. I loved that stand as it looked slick and doubled as a speaker bar. I've used the home theater setup since the move, but the moving company finally got back to me with the insurance paperwork and essentially are going to reimburse me for the TV stand and my subwoofer (also damaged). Hence me asking if anyone had any recommendations.
Now that I've got a couple of Sonos Play 1 speakers, I must confess that getting the Sonos Playbar is tempting, but at $650 (ON SALE), that's a tough pill for me to swallow especially since the rest of my gear is in good shape (except the sub). So far it seems like the Yamaha is working out nicely with the little that I've listened to it. In fact, it sounds better than my TV stand audio, but doesn't look nearly as slick as the TV stand.
For anyone else looking for a half way decent speaker bar, this $120 Yamaha seems pretty good so far. Will test it with a wider variety of content in the coming weeks.

I came here from AVS as well, it's been a while since I've visited that site haha.
Seeing how dschroll has only one TV, and I remember him talking about switching over more to digital, the collector in me thought I would never go that route. But as I get older, I am starting to go that way. I find myself viewing tablets more often for Netflix and not watching TV as much and it is hard for me to keep up with the latest tech like HDR. Not really on topic, just a thought that came in my head.
Closest to a sound bar that I picked up was a Bose Solo Tv on clearance but it is pretty big. Something like that Yamaha would work good with our bedroom TV since the speakers are kind of mediocre.

We all came from AVS. That's where I recruited everyone.

Yup, AVS here too. I'm the only one that dschroll regrets inviting. It was a good hit ratio. The rest of the crew is outstanding.

We may disagree on things from time to time, but I respect your opinion nonetheless. I enjoy looking at things from different perspectives and you've given me some good viewpoints on things. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we may not have a huge or very active board, but the people that come here are top notch and we've all gotten to know each other through this board. I should post on here more and will try and be better, but I'm happy to see people continue to visit and post stuff regularly.
