I can't pre order the NES classic, a $60 system that has 30 year old games. You think they'll let me pre order their next gen system?

Not too surprising since it appears to be a single-screen console, without touch capabilities (although that hasn't been confirmed) and no 3D capabilities. Of course, you could do the whole portrait-mode dual screen thing but without a touch screen that's kind of pointless.

Some rumors on the Nintendo switch. Take with a grain of salt.
- Switch will be region-free - Joy-Cons will support motion control & rumble - Switch dev kits support Wiimotes - motion support will be confirmed closer to launch - the Splatoon and Mario Kart games will support motion - Breath of the Wild will support motion control for things like gyro aiming, steering, use of the magnet ability - the past six months have been legal and pre-development discussions between Ubisoft/Nintendo for Beyond Good & Evil 2 - discussions included budget and direction, project scope, and how much of previous development efforts could be salvaged - October art teases were the result of the project reaching a point where all parties were confident they could re-announce it - Switch screen is a multitouch screen, used for menus, for drawing, for certain games - all Switch games need to be playable with the handheld in the console dock, all Switch games will be playable without touch - dock will have additional processing power - maximum battery life of three hours - price, release dates for regions, launch software and spec press releases are essentially ready for release

Another rumor:
Where the New 3DS supported Micro SD up to 2GB and Micro SDHC up to 32GB, the Nintendo Switch development hardware supports Micro SDXC cards up to 128 GB in size. It is currently unclear if this upper limit will be reduced on the retail model, but the development model of the Switch does support running software directly off the Micro SD card as you would off the internal memory or a game cart.
In addition, a source close to the production of the Switch reveal trailer has informed us that the Micro SD slot on the Switch can be located underneath the handheld’s kickstand on the model shown in the reveal trailer.

The Nintendo Switch screen will be 6.2" in size, 720p and, for the first time on a Nintendo console, feature a capacitive multi-touch input.
So say Eurogamer's sources, who previously correctly revealed the nature of the Switch as home/handheld console hybrid with detachable controllers and a TV dock well in advance of the official trailer.

So say Eurogamer's sources, who previously correctly revealed the nature of the Switch as home/handheld console hybrid with detachable controllers and a TV dock well in advance of the official trailer. If true, no reason this can't act as a psudo-2DS. While I'm sure N doesn't plan to intentionally cannibalize 3DS sales, this might make it possible to sell DS/3DS titles on a Switch Virtual console. PLUS, it'll make a better transition to mobile for the upcoming N games. I still believe their best mic drop in January is that this thing runs Android, that coming from an Apple fanboy. I read articles indicating that Switch is kind of re-badged nVidia Shield, which actually makes sense. If that's true, making the Switch the evolution of Shield is smart. The Shield has access to the Google store which then adds a ton of usability to this thing. If the selling point for N is that not only is this thing a gaming platform but also a legitimate tablet option, that opens up a lot of market.

I think Nintendo really just needs to focus on this thing being a great games device first and foremost. The tablet market is saturated so I don't think they need to really go after that. If this thing can play great games at home or on the go, then you have a winning product and can add a few bells and whistles like Netflix or Hulu or what have you.
I think supporting the Google PLay store would be a mistake as it would invite too many risks of bad or buggy apps that could break the system. Nintendo is better off creating a walled garden like apple where they can maintain better quality control.

More rumors: - hardware model shown in the reveal featured a USB-C port for power - this port will be able to be used to charge the handheld while away from the Switch Dock - position of the USB-C port means you will not be able to charge it while the system is propped up on its kickstand - the Switch's lackluster battery is being made up for with the ability to quickly charge - Nintendo doesn’t have any plans to support USB Hard Drives - allowing consumers to attach external drives to the Dock will cause players to see the system as less inherently portable

If the latest rumor is to be believed, Switch will contain 4GB of RAM. That’s according to Emily Rogers, who has been spot-on with most speculation about the system so far.

What I like most about the switch is that there will be seamless switching between RPGs and strategy games. Intelligent Systems, maker of Fire Emblem and Advance Wars series, being able to play these games whenever and however I want are big for me. I still haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles so if they did a port of that game it would be great. But being so busy and not having time lately to do much has been a real bummer.

More switch rumors:
- system is connected to the dock by USB-C - Switch's components will run at a higher clock speed to facilitate 1080p resolutions on the TV - video and power will be transferred over USB-C when docked - plugging the system into the dock will also activate a small additional fan to help with cooling - fan is in the rear of the dock, and there is a gap in the back of the dock to allow the system’s inbuilt fans to vent - dock is light weight and is designed to be cheap to produce - some time after launch, additional docks will be sold to place in differing rooms if you have multiple TVs - the January 13th reveal events will feature near retail level hardware - each title will be locked to playing one game demo - press will be free to take the systems to a separate area of the event to play on sofas - when returning to TVs, they will not be required to return the system to the same dock it started at - events are held at a large number of small sessions - each has a minimal number of press in attendance to ensure hardware is kept track of

More rumors
