I went on Wednesday to the concert at the Mann Center in Philly (4 hour drive from upstate NY, terrible traffic for the last mile so I was 15 min late, but didn't miss much, just the 4-5 minute overture). It was really great. I didn't expect the live concert to be that much better than some of the orchestral stuff I have recorded, but it was. Part of the cool factor was the giant video screen that they have synced up with the music (video from ALL the games), and the other was just seeing the musicians playing it live (singers, solo violins, oboes, etc.)
There were some pretty sweet surprises (my brother was thrilled to hear Ballad of the Wind Fish from Link's Awakening as that's his favorite game) and they did like 4 encores or something crazy. Anyway, I heard pretty much everything I wanted to hear and then some. Probably the only piece of music I didn't hear that I expected in some form was the Dragon Roost theme from Wind Waker. All in all, a very good experience. I now wish I had brought my 9-year-old daughter as I know she would have liked it. Ah well, they added a NYC concert in November so maybe I'll go back with her ...

Do they sell any CDs there or anything like that? I'm going to the Chicago one in October. Can't wait.

Not that I could see. I was hoping for a concert CD or video, as I would have bought it, but the only stuff I saw were posters and T-shirts. I might have missed it, though, I just did a quick visual scan when I was leaving.

What kind of T shirts? Zelda shirts? I may have to get one for my daughter if they make them small enough.

I didn't see much size variety, but again I wasn't that close to them. As far as content, I believe it was just the Zelda Symphony logo on it, but there might be more that I just didn't see.

Zelda concert for Chicago is coming up. I'm very excited. In the meantime, thought I would share the COOLEST marching band show EVER.

Went to the Zelda concert last night. Was fantastic. They did 3 encores with the last one being music from Majora's Mask (a game I still need to play).
Tons of people were dressed up. It was a total blast. My only regret is that I didn't bring my 3DS. How could I forget it? Idiot! I never saw so many 3DS owners in my life. My streetpass would've been going crazy.

That's funny, because my brother was kicking himself for the same thing - not bringing the 3DS. I'm not really into the streetpass thing, but he is, and he had the same reaction when seeing the sheer volume of consoles there: "Oh, come on!" But yeah, big opportunity missed.

Just got back from Symphony of the Goddesses: Master Quest in Brooklyn. Really great concert, as usual. Only nitpick was they spent more time on recent stuff (Majora's Mask 3D, OOT 3D, Link Between Worlds, Wind Waker HD) and less on the lesser-known but still musically interesting games like Zelda 1/2, Link's Awakening, etc. I don't remember anything from those games tonight actually (besides the main theme in Zelda 1 but that's in pretty much every game). Still a worthwhile event to visit, hope they change it up a bit for next year's schedule.

Agreed. I went a couple of weeks ago with my daughter and it was a great concert overall. This was my third time going and it was the most crowded it has ever been, but I think at one point there was a groupon for tickets, which might explain it.
We had great seats and were in center balcony, so right in front of the screen. Most of the songs were great, but I agree they did a lot more modern Zelda stuff. I felt like previous concerts mixed it up a bit and did songs from more games. Still, my daughter and I enjoyed it and I thought this time they really did a nice job of syncing with the video on screen a lot. In the past they would just show clips of a game while playing the music. This time they were playing some of the actual music that was from the exact clip they were showing.
I love these concerts and plan to keep attending as long as they keep coming back to Chicago (or wherever I may end up living). Oh, and for anyone interested, the Symphony of the Goddesses were on Stephen Colbert last night
