We don't have one for books, only graphic novels.
All of you, if you are true video game fans, should have read Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Even better is the audiobook read by Will aka Wesley Crusher Wheaton. Tomorrow, Ernest's 2nd book Armada comes out.
AND, I got 4 tix to see him at our local bookstore. PSYCHED.
I will add as a sidenote that I mentioned that this book is similar in concept to the movie Pixels. He is SO excited to see that and I keep warning him that the movie's going to be TERRIBLE. Oh well, his generation of 8-bit reinvention with Minecraft just love their damn pixel animation. And before you nerds correct me, yeah, I know, Armada is probably more closer to The Last Starfighter...

Armada comes out tomorrow!? Sweeet!!! Loved Ready Player One! Last book I consumed was The Martian. Definitely a great audio book. The voice acting was amazing and the story was super cool. Recommended.

Funny, I just read Ready Player One for the first time last month. I had been told by multiple people to read it, but only when I saw he had another book coming out did I finally do it. Obviously I loved it. My only excuse for not reading sooner is I very rarely do any reading anymore. Excited about Armada.

Thanks reaper, I'll have to check out Martian. Is that the same as the new movie? I had never heard of it and first thought it was Martian Chronicles (which I LOVED) even the mediocre TV show.
FYI, I noticed that Armada is on Audible. If you have Amazon Prime, you can get 3 months free of Audible. You can use one of your freebies on Armada. Hell yeah, I'm doing that. Looks like Martian is there too.

I have Prime, that sounds sweet ... but I read WAY faster than I can listen to a book, so I don't know if I'd get much use out of it. I'll try it out though.

Up late and Armada is for sale. Got the Audible trial. You can even download the file and store it on your iPod, nano in my case.
And once again, Will Wheaton is the narrator. Aw yeah.

Damn cool event w/ Ernest Cline. He's one of us. Grew up in the 70's on Star Wars and video games and still LOVES all of it. How would it feel to grow up pretty much living Star Wars EVERYDAY and until later on in life you get a call that Stephen Spielberg wants to do your Ready Player One movie. Damn, living the dream. Had to wait over an hour but he signed my Armada book. I'll give you some bullets in no particular order. - After Ready Player One became big, he bought his DeLorean. - I didn't know he wrote Fanboys. Not only that, he got to edit the movie at Skywalker Ranch. So he got to edit the movie about stealing a movie from the Ranch AT THE RANCH. - He wrote the Ready Player One (RP1) script before even writing the book. He got movie offers before the book was done. - He alluded to a writer working on the illustrated RP1. A GRAPHIC NOVEL!!! ?!?! - RP1 is written so he can have at least 2 sequels, since that was part of the agreement of doing the movie. - Iron Eagle is the real inspiration for Armada, though Last Starfighter might be the closest. - Apparently RP1 has an Easter Egg hunt that gets you to some games. - Occulus Rift has already made Oasis. HOLY SHIT - Earth Defense Alliance website from the book will be a live website. I might have the site name wrong but it's going to host some games. - For the RP1 movie, he wants unknown actors to play the main characters like the original Star Wars. For other parts, he could see John Cusack and even Tom Cruise. - Will Wheaton was his 1st choice to read RP1. He is also pushing for Will to have part in the movie. He gave movies that he drew upon War Games Close Encounters Buckaroo Bonzai Manhattan Project Iron Eagle Explorers Flight of the Navigator Real Genius Independence Day Last Action Hero He recommended Mr Robot on TV (now I tivo'ed it) Authors John Scalzi Robert Heinlein Robert Lee's Breach Trilogy Dark Tower, natch

OMG. It finally happened. www.comixology.com/unlimitedDon't care about DC or Marvel. Already have Marvel Unlimited and my son LIVES on it. But I saw some of my favorites. I'll start my running list: - Lumberjanes. Great and kid friendly. IIRC, there's a movie coming. - Saga - Southern Bastards. SO AWESOME. - BOOM titles. Great for kids with Garfield and Peanuts Totally worth $6/mo.

Damn! I think I may be in on this too. If you have one account, can I have it associated with multiple devices? (i.e. can my daughter access it on her tablet while I am on mine?)

Damn! I think I may be in on this too. If you have one account, can I have it associated with multiple devices? (i.e. can my daughter access it on her tablet while I am on mine?) Heck yeah. All my iphones/iPads/Kindle Fires etc are all tied to the same Amazon, Marvel Unlimited, etc accounts. I don't have a Spotify family account for example, we just share the login. For Comixology and Marvel, I just use the same login. The only 'negative' is that the shared library is the same across everything. But that's OK, so I know what my son's reading. Looks like you can download so you can definitely 'cache' for offline. FYI, I have Marvel Unlimited on my son's $50 Kindle Fire even though it's not an approved app. I just sideloaded it.

Hmmm...I may not jump in after all. No DC and no Marvel.
Additionally, they don't have complete story arcs. For instance, Saga, a book that I love, is up to 36 issues or so. Comixology Unlimited offers you the first 6 issues. Hmmm....I need more than that to make this more enticing for me.
