I'm sure people here grab the latest freed games for their xbox or ps4. For me, most times I find them pretty weak. It really feels like we've trained too many college kids how to make side scrollers and now we get some amateurish attempt as a "free game" every 30 days. This month I've been trying all of these free games again and feeling the same. However, I am having fun with Xeodrifter. I admit, it is still amateurish. There is one major boss so far and you fight him over and over as he gains new abilities. On the plus side, though, the game has some really cool concepts such as: 1. Creating the best gun on your own. You get gun points and you can assign them as you wish to bullet power, bullet spread, bullet speed, etc. It's pretty fun to assign and reassign these points to see how they change your effectiveness in battle. 2. The ability to jump into the background. This is a cool way to view the level and graphics as you can transition from foreground to background during battle or simple exploration. It's a blatant rip off of metroid in many ways and checkpoints are infrequent. But anyway, I am enjoying it and recommend it for the price of free. If you're looking for something old school to play, take a look at this free game!

I'm liking it. Super Time Force Ultra eclipses it by far, but it's still a cool game. I just get frustrated by the lack of checkpoints.

For some reason I'm getting a Blaster Master vibe from watching the video. The music and the look of the game.

Didn't mighty switch force come up with the whole background/foreground thing? These guys did it in their last game, Mutant Mudds, already. That came out in 2012.
