Sorry, never been a big fan. I like the movies, I'm just not a super-crazy-rabid Star Wars fan. I'll be seeing it at some point, either in the theater or on Blu-ray (probably theater, just not in the first few insane weeks).

I plan to see it but not buying tickets early either. Hope to get a few people together and see it a little after the craziness dies down. It does look cool.

Tix reserved for the Monday morning of the opening weekend. I didn't want to wait that long and I wanted to get seats in the center of the theatre.

Me and some friends are planning to see it on the last week of December. Debate right now is if we should see it in 3D. So far I've seen Avatar the The Hobbit in 3D (and some other I don't remember) and I wasn't impressed. To me the picture seemed washed out...I want that high resolution detail coming through. But yeah, I don't go to the movies much (maybe average one or two a year) but this one I will probably see even though I'm not a huge Star Wars fan. I'm currently debating on watching episodes 4-6 in the mean time.

Today is the big day! My daughter and I are so excited. We both have Star Wars T Shirts we'll be wearing tonight. So far reviews are very positive. I've avoided them entirely only to see if they were good or not, and am happy to see people early indications are that the movie is everything you want a new Star Wars movie to be. I won't post any spoilers in here after seeing it, and will only describe the movie going experience. It will be the first time my daughter will have seen a Star Wars movie in the theater.

Looking forward to reading your thoughts. We've moved our viewing up to this Saturday at 8:30 am. As I'm typing this you are probably in line or watching the movie now.

Movie was great. WAY better than Prequels. A lot of fun. Great moving going experience. Does a great job of paying homage to the old movies while introducing new characters and such to the story. If you're a Star Wars fan, you'll enjoy this movie.
My daughter got scared a few times and was pretty tired so I don't think she enjoyed it as much as I had hoped she would, but fun was still had by all. I'll definitely go back for a second viewing once all the hype has died down a bit....

Argh, now I kind of wish I had tickets. Oh well... will wait for things to die down. Full IMAX theater near me is totally sold out all weekend

Yeah, I'd like to go back for an IMAX viewing as well. We had great seats and the screen was huge, so if I don't see it on IMAX I'm still content. The special effects in the movie were great. Not overly digital like the prequels felt. The plot is a little thin, but still good fun. The new characters are great along with BB-8 and really fit well into the universe. I'm looking forward to seeing it again

C'mon. This movie could get reviews like Pixels and I'd still watch it. It's Star Wars. Granted those last 3 movies are dead to me.
Speaking about Pixels, my son begged me for weeks to see it. I kept showing him the reviews but he still wanted to. We never did, we'll wait for it on Netflix or Amazon Prime (free). Or, I'll make him rent it, I ain't paying for that crap.

Heh, I kind of enjoyed Pixels. Yeah it's ridiculous and sophomoric, but as a video game fan it was still enjoyable. (For me, don't blame me if you hate it.) There were enough funny folks in the movie that I enjoyed the humor. (I don't know why but Kevin James always cracks me up.)

I like some of Sandler's movies and we'll probably end up watching Pixels. I think I need my expectations REALLY low so it'll be a nice surprise.
Watch it today in luxury, reclining seats. I'll never watch in a regular seat again...
GLORIOUS. The 10 YO in me was screaming/jumping for joy and the old man loved the throwbacks. This is what we wanted after Return of the Jedi.
My only disappointment is that we're losing all the existing universe. I read a TON of Star Wars novels by Stackpoke, Anderson, the Rogue Squadron series, Dark Nest, etc. and all of it kind of goes to waste, at least in movie form. Oh well, if the level stays like this, I'm VERY happy.

Should we star a Star Wars SPOILERS thread so we can discuss the movie in detail?

I know how you feel. I was able to keep myself in the dark about the entire plot so when the story unfolded today, HOLY SHIT was I surprised. I even screamed 'OH NO!' out loud at the pivotal scene. Not sure why I was the only one...
