Trading/Selling Split Second for the PS3. If you haven't played this racing game, I cannot recommend it enough. Great game if you like more arcade type racing games a la Burnout. You essentially are in a stunt race and instead of something like Mario Kart where you can get weapons to hurt your opponents, in this one you build up a meter that lets you destroy (possibly altering) the race track and cause your opponents to get into a wreck. Its extremely well done and I've had a ton of fun playing it.

Dreamcast is your favorite system?? I have a fondness for both the Gamecube and Dreamcast but I'd rank them below quite a few other systems. What games really stood out for you on the Dreamcast?
Virtua Tennis is probably the one I played the most because three of my other friends would play 2v2 competitive matches, ones where we would hold a grudge on (lol).
Soul Calibur was a beautiful game but I've always been a 2D fighter guy. Crazy Taxi was pretty fun too. Dreamcast had some good shooters (shmups) like Mars Matrix and Gunbird.
Oh, main thing I replied for was to say that Split Second sounds good so I'd be interested in it. Sent you a PM.

LOL...did I say it was my favorite system? I said it was ONE of my favorite systems As much as I loved the Gamecube, I think I enjoyed the Dreamcast more just in terms of the sheer amount of great original games from Sega and other companies. Let's see, the Dreamcast was home to some very good original Sega content: Sonic Adventure Crazy Taxi Jet Grind Radio Shenmue Skies of Arcadia Sea Man NFL 2K series NBA 2K series Virtua On The House of the Dead Phatasy Star Online Power Stone Samba De Amigo Virtua Tennis Toy Commander Not to mention home to some excellent 3rd party games like: Resident Evil Code Veronica Rayman 2 Hydro Thunder Soul Calibur (one of the best launch games ever IMO) Ikaruga Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 These are just some of the games I can think of, I'm sure its not all of them. I just thought the DC was so far ahead of its time and Sega created such great original content at a time when most 3rd parties wouldn't support the system. The DC offered a screen in the controller courtesy of their memory card (VMU), they offered a system that offered great and free online play before anyone else, it had trigger buttons on the controller that ultimately became a staple for modern controllers, etc. Sega did everything right with the DC and unfortunately still didn't succeed because of the poor management of Sega's previous systems. Its really too bad that things had to end when Sega was really hitting its stride, but at least they went out on a high note. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Ha ha, I read and interpreted your initial post wrong.
I love reminiscing about classic games and systems. And I agree that the Dreamcast was a great system. The NFL 2K series was the last time that I really played NFL sports games. I had gotten tired of Madden and remember seeing NFL 2K on the Dreamcast and thought it looked great. I thought there were still issues with the game mechanics and AI but I was glad that Madden had a competent challenger. The height of the series for me was when it came out later (NFL 2k5 on Xbox and PS2) and was priced only at $20 but I thought it was a better game than Madden. Unfortunately EA then struck a deal with the NFL to be the only franchise that could sport the NFL license and that was it for me. Now my sports stuff is relegated to arcade type games like Virtua Tennis and Hot Shots Golf.
With all of the Dreamcast love, I do have to throw in some (minor) nitpicks about the hardware though. Controller design. Why have the cord come from the bottom?? Yeah, they had a little clip to support it but it would put a kink in the controller and it just annoyed me a bit, esp. when some of my cords would start to tear at the spot connecting to the controller. But what would bother me even more is the tiny little dot on the buttons of the the controller. After long gaming sessions of Virtua Tennis my thumbs would get calluses. That and the D-pad and control stick wasn't the most comfortable. But again, this only came up from Virtua Tennis and it was partly my fault. Dumb things but just had to get them off my chest, lol.
I would still pick the Gamecube over it, though. It was home to my favorite single player game of all time. Metroid Prime. Besides all of the cool Nintendo stuff like Zelda and Pikmin, I liked that it had games like Resident Evil 4, Fire Emblem and Monkey Ball. And I agree, Ikaruga is an excellent game. Unfortunately I didn't have it for my Dreamcast but glad that I got ports of it and Skies of Arcadia on the Gamecube. I tip my hat to the excellence of both systems.

I went to Best Buy @ lunch hour and they had 3 copies marked pre-owned but they were clearly brand new, still in the original shrink wrap. I grabbed one for $20.

Hey guys, for those of you who do trade in games (dschroll), and to those of you looking to make a little money, please bear with me and hear me out on this on deal. Gamestop is running a deal that you can get any new game for $9.99 or less when you trade in any two games: www.gamestop.com/trade2So basically if you trade in any two games off of that list you can get ANY new game for $10. But what if you are like me and don't like paying full price on new games?? No problemo!! The offer applies to any new game and if the new game doesn't come up to $60 bucks you get the remaining balance applied as credit. So what I did today was trade in Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2, my new game was America's Test Kitchen for the DS which is only $1 NEW...the balance of $51.41 was given to me as credit. So if you have any of tho games on the list keep this in mind. ---- What if you don't have any of the games?? That was my case. Well, Gamestop is currently running a Buy 2 Get One Free promo... So I bought PS3 Rockband 3 (more on this later) and the two Pokemon games above. With my PowerUp rewards discount (I initially got this for Game Informer but it is coming in handy now!), the total came to $66.17 for the three games: Rock Band 3 was $31.49 Pokemon White V2 $29.69 Pokemon Black V2 free Total after taxes was $66.17 Cashier was pretty cool and let me trade the games back in right there (no reason really why I couldn't) but if you are not comfortable I would just trade them in on a different day. Now you could get one of the games that you really want and just keep it (or do two transactions to buy six promo games and trade them all in), but I bought PS3 Rockband 3 as my other one because Amazon is currently giving you $95.16 for the Rock Band 3 and Keyboard combo: Click here for the link, don't forget to select PS3 and the Bundle edition to see the priceSo on Monday as I'm driving home from work I will stop at a Gamestop that has the keyboard in stock and pick it up: www.gamestop.com/Browse/StoreSearch.aspx?sku=800345&return=%2fdefault.aspx%3fnav%3d16k-3-rock%2bband%2b3%2c28zu0The nice thing is after your first transaction, you can always just use credit to buy the rest of the stuff (and that is how I will buy the keyboard). So to summarize my purchases: Rock Band 3 game and two Pokemon games: -$66.17 Gamestop credit after the promo and buying America's Test Kitchen: +$51.41 Purchase the keyboard: ~ -$21.50 after taxes Credit for trade in from Amazon: +$95.16 So total is -66.17 + 51.41 - 21.50 + 95.16 = $58.90 The nice thing is with the Gamestop credit you can also buy Amazon/Google Play/lots of other giftcards. I'm going to see if I can save up enough doing this to purchase my next system.... ----- I know this seems like a lot of effort, esp. if you don't have any of the games on that list, but it is really very easy to do. It took me more time to type this up than it did to go into Gamestop and check for RB3 and those two DS games. I didn't believe it at first but my brother finally convinced me after seeing that he already has enough to buy a PS4 and Xbox One (he is really good and spotting these types of deals) Let me know if you guys have any questions.
