So, Christmas is only 3 weeks away. I know not everyone celebrates the holiday, but for those of you that do, feel free to list what's on your wish list from Santa this year. My list is generally doesn't change year to year and consists of the same basic things. Games, gadgets, and Legos. Maybe a book thrown in here or there too. Now, by no means do I expect to get everything on my list. But, nonetheless, I like to keep a long list to give my family members options Games: Shadow of Mordor - PS4 Metal Gear Solid V - PS4 Teraway - PS4 NHL16 - PS4 Kirby and The Rainbow Curse - Wii U Legos: Star Wars Sandcrawler Star Wars AT-AT Star Wars Tie Fighter Collectors Set Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart Lego Mindstorms EV3 Gadgets: Raspberry Pie Tivo Roamio Slide Remote Philips Hue Lightbulbs Starter Pack Books: Armada

Loved Armada, can't wait to see what Ernest Cline writes next.
Wish I'd known you wanted Kirby, Gamefly was selling it used for 19.99 a couple weeks back - I snagged it and it looks basically new. Think it was posted on cheapassgamer.com at the time.

Loved Armada, can't wait to see what Ernest Cline writes next. What did you think of Armada compared to Ready Player One? I thought RPO was an enjoyable read, but looking over some of the reviews on Amazon many think it wasn't as good. As for my Christmas list, I got the main thing I wanted which was a PS4. There are games I want but I'm not in too much of a hurry because there are still others that I want to play in the meantime. Xenoblade Chronicles X - Wii U Captain Toad - Wii U Splatoon - Wii U Metal Gear Solid 5 - PS4 (Still need to finish 3 and play 4 though) Kirby and The Rainbow Curse - Wii U Tales of the Borderlands - PS4 or Steam (currently $7.99 on PSN for a couple of more hours) Life is Strange - PS4 or Steam (currently $10 on PSN for a couple of more hours) Her Story - Steam Legos: Lego Tower Bridge Lego Sopwith Camel I need to find a way to start keeping track of prices on some of these games and the prices so when I do get around to buying and playing them I will purchase at a price equal to or below: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse ($19.99 used) Splatoon ($25 at Walmart during BF) Tales of the Borderlands ($8 on PSN during a PSN sale and $12.50 on a Steam sale) Life is Strange ($10 on PSN during a PSN sale and $14 on a Steam sale)

What did you think of Armada compared to Ready Player One? I thought RPO was an enjoyable read, but looking over some of the reviews on Amazon many think it wasn't as good. I loved Ready Player One. I read Armada shortly afterwards and also loved it, although perhaps not quite as much. As long as you don't expect Armada to be the same book or a sequel (which it's not) it stands very well on its own. My sister liked it much less, but she's not a gamer. Your enjoyment will be directly proportionate to how much you know and enjoy video games and action, I believe. I guess I'd rate the books this way: Ready Player One - 97/100 (A+) Armada - 91/100 (A-) All subjective of course, but that reflects how I feel about the books pretty accurately.

Well, I think I will likely get next to nothing for Christmas this year by choice. It's been a tough year with no raise/bonus at work compiled with my car breaking down and the payments of that land on top of it. However, that doesn't stop me from having a list of items that interest me.
Games: Ori and the Blind Forest Axiom Verge King's Quest Rise of Tomb Raider Fallout 4 Firewatch The Witness
Fitness band: Band 2
Replacement trail cam (last one drowned when the river rose from 3 to 9 feet!): Steal Cam STC-G42NG
Maybe find a used iPhone 5 and use that ting service oldskool pointed me to. That looks cool!

I think Ori and the Blind Forest is on sales now. I could be wrong, but thought I saw it was $10 on XBL.

reaper, if you go Ting, make sure you try out a code (I find one on a podcast) or let ping me. I 'might' get a referral discount for you, though not sure.
I got a code from the Fitzdog Podcast and got about $50 in credit for 2 SIM cards.
I hear ya. Silicon's having a rough go for sure.

Hey oldskool, got a technical question for ya .. or anyone else here who may know the answer.
Is there some model of the iPhone 5s which I can take onto CDMA OR GSM? Or is every model either CDMA or GSM?
I ask because most people seem to back CDMA as the better tech. But the coverage map in my areas seems to indicate that GSM is better. I wouldn't mind trying GSM but if the map turns out to be BS, then, it'd be nice to switch to CDMA without buying a whole new phone.

OK, that link doesn't say anything about GSM. But you think any Verizon unlocked phone supports GSM? Oh yeah, is it wrong of me to ask a seller for an IMEI? Ting said if I provide that number, they could verify it would work.

www.techwalls.com/iphone-5s-a1533-a1453-a1457-a1530-differences/This link seems to tell me I need A1453 Model A1453: This model works on CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B system (with 800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz bands), it supports 13 LTE bands (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz) and GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz). This is the most universal model as it could work on major LTE networks in the U.S., however, it is sold locked on Sprint. But even that is confusing because this looks similar: Model A1533 (CDMA): This is the CDMA version of A1533. It works on CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz) and is being sold for Verizon’s customers. It supports 11 LTE Bands (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25), UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz) and GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz).

I just chatted with Ting again and they said the phone has to have this in the description:
UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)
To work with GSM. They said both the versions I listed above will work.

Holy crap, I just bought one with the money I had saved for a VR headset. So, since I know I won't be buying a PC to run VR any time soon, I figured I might as well do this. Hope this works out! www.ebay.com/itm/281829358569

Got my iPhone 5s today. It's in great condition. Not perfect but pretty close to it. Got it mostly set up but I am not on ting yet. Ordered a GSM SIM card and waiting for that.
