Not sure if this is true but... 45 minutes of Pokemon!?! As a Nintendo fan (and someone who will ONLY be buying an NX, no Sony / Microsoft stuff) this E3 is dumb. Yes, the Zelda game will be awesome, but when has a core Zelda game ever NOT been awesome? I'm honored to be shown footage of a game I already knew would be great. I'm so glad there's no new Metroid or 3D mario game to worry about.

Well, I've been watching Zelda off and on for the last couple hours and it does look quite good. I missed the dungeon but all the commentary seems to indicate it was excellent. So, this looks like another must-by Zelda.

Sadly because of my move I've had to miss most of E3 and could only watch parts of it later rather than live. Still, I didn't even bother watching Nintendo's event at all. They already said months ago they were throwing in the towel and had no plans to showcase anything other than Zelda and Pokemon at E3, so I'm not upset at them as they broadcasted their intentions. It's disappointing to see them roll over like this. Zelda looks fantastic from what I've seen so far and I think it's every bit as good looking in terms of what I've seen from Sony and MS. It's too bad Nintendo can't get their act together to get it released this holiday.
From the sounds of it, it seems like there might be some advantages on the Wii U version that the NX might not be able to offer unless you can import your Wii U save data into the NX. I'm sure I'll get an NX as I love Nintendo games too much to just sit back and wait, but like I said, they better have some aces up their sleeves. The VR train is building up steam and they need something to excite consumers and developers back to NX.
Perhaps take a play from MS and Sony and let people cross play stuff on platforms. Hmm? Such a simple thing, but something that can make a big impact.

After the N conference, I was thinking I was ready to buy Zelda... coming up with plans to set up the WiiU in the family room and get the family involved this summer. Then I was reminded of the 2017 release date. Ugh... well, we'll see if my interest holds... It may end up like The Last Guardian for me. At this point, I don't even care about that game.
I will also say that I was excited to hear voice over in a zelda game. I thought.. finally, no more reading screens of boring text. Then the game showed me that it is only voiced in a small % of the game. Ah well.
Still interested overall...

I haven't watched much, just followed various feeds. I like N but TBH, enough w/ the Zelda. It's going to be a TOUGH go until 2017. I'm actually interested in Pokemon GO, seems like it could be a gaming version of geocaching. Could be a way to get sedentary gamers moving, which I'm all for.
For the NX, yeah, I'll probably get it, I'm a sucker. But N might have an advantage if the build it in a way that they can incorporate 3rd party hw too. All this talk about VR, but if they build it so that N can use other VR hardware that's on the market, they can extend their market. Hopefully the 'failure' of the Wii U and the decline of HH consoles makes them feel the desperation enough to think more outside the box.
Funny, the game I'm now most interested in is Resident Evil 7. I really liked the beginning of the series but lost interest when it became an FPS. I've got the demo on my PS4, looking forward to trying it.

True, but really, did you expect something else? And to be fair most Nintendo games (Mario, Zelda, etc.) don't require an engine that will display 4K super-realistic graphics. It's not your go-to FPS console for anyone and I doubt it ever will be.
If the NX can usher in some other kind of gaming revolution like the Wii did it can still sell well. That's a bit 'if' at this point though.

Agreed, I'm not concerned about horsepower. I'm more concerned about content. Sadly, the publishers seem to only design for horsepower, their big titles don't really go for 'different'.
AND, we don't know if 4K games or VR will be a hit. They could just have the same impact as 3D in the home. 3D at home, what's that? EXACTLY.

We'll just have to see how well it performs with 3rd parties. I don't mind different but I wish it would be built on top of a base of similarity. So, I wish the console could do everything the XBO and PS4 could do and support a similar controller. And then, in addition, do some Nintendo magic. That way, we'd have a console that a dev could dump all the CoDs for and if they wanted, add in support for the magic Nintendo dongle of complete dominance. If they don't want to support magic, fine, at least the CoD crowd gets their game. But if they do... they get CoD AND pink unicorns flying through their underpants ... only on NX! This guy cracks me up:
