Here we are again. Time to score some major deals on more games because I was just thinking my backlog isn't big enough already. So what's on everyone's shopping list this year? Anyone score any deals already?
I got a crazy deal the other day through Toys R Us because of a coupon code glitch they had on their site. It quickly went viral and TRU blew up fast, so TRU killed it pretty fast. I was lucky enough to score a couple of toys for my daughter before the fix.
What does everyone have their eye on this holiday shopping season?

TBH, I can't think of a thing. Granted, I'm in a different headspace since I'm officially 'funemployed'. For those that don't know, no sweat, it's a good thing. Consider it part of my midlife crisis as I search for something more rewarding to do 'for life' even though it may not pay as much. Same as last year, we've kind of cut down on Xmas presents and moved it over to have a holiday trip. Last year was London/Rome. This year, Paris/Barcelona. We'll be in Paris for NYE and we tend to let the kids spend money abroad as their Xmas gift. I'm finding the cost of experience is much better spent vs a physical thing. That being said, if something shiny appears at a great price, who the hell am I to ignore it?

Good luck on finding something more rewarding oldskool. I am at that part in my life, too. For the most part I am in my cubicle at a desk all day, occasionally peering through the window outside wanting to be out there instead of the sterile looking environment I work at. I have survived two rounds of layoffs because work has been so slow, hoping things will turnaround but my plan is to be doing something completely different in less than five years. Experience is meaning more to me than buying stuff.
That being said, I still have a soft spot for Black Fridays. I ended up getting a Best Buy GCU for the first time and picking up both The Last Guardian and Nioh for PS4 for $15 each. I am still in the process of making my list of games I would like to score during BF but will post them later.

I've been volunteering more, reading to 3rd graders at one of the less supported schools and also helped at Challenge Day at my kids' high school. I'd like to do something that helps the kids at some kind of non-profit. I applied for a program manager position at Steve's Club because Crossfit, but honestly, I'm a bit overqualified even though that doesn't bother me.
Fatty, for sure put up your games list. I'm curious to see if there's ones I missed that should be on my radar.
I've been seeing a lot of those LOL balls but honestly, I made my own for the kids' to open last year just using cash, lottery tickets and candy. That was a big winner. We did it hot potato style. Start unwrapping and you can keep whatever you open, that is until the person w/ the dice rolls a double and makes you pass it on. Pretty fun, frantic game.

I was thinking the same thing when I read this. I will be paying full msrp for this one and just pick it up sooner than later. It's a great game and the money goes to someone who can use the help. Just sad what happened as it was so easily avoidable. My daughter had jaundice when she was born and was treated right away. It's fairly common in a lot of kids from what I've read, so surprising when something like that gets overlooked.

They got put under the light and it seemed like a non-occurrence, granted at the time you kinda freak out. To hear that the opposite end can end roughly is a tough pill to swallow. If I'm going to spend money, I'd rather it help someone out, even if I don't really need to spend that money.

Best Buy is live but it is sooo sllloooowwwww.
So far for blu-ray movies I am picking up (or trying to):
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - $3.99 Spiderman: Homecoming - $7.99 Wonder Woman - $6.99 John Wick Chapter 2 - $8.99
I almost got Zelda Explorer's Edition for $29 at Walmart and as I tried to add FFXII Zodiac edition to get free shipping it was then out of stock...grrr.

I'd like to still try and pick up:
Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition $9 (Walmart) Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition $9 (Walmart) Titanfall 2 Deluxe Edition $14.99 (Best Buy)
I'm not really seeing too much else and the ones above are because of 'complete' editions.

So, I decided to partake in the Black Friday festivities, both for myself and for gifts for family/friends. For me: 2 32GB micro sd cards 2 Everdrives (GBA and TG-16) Samba De Amigo maracas Uncharted for PS Vita Nier Automata for PS4 Kirby Planet Robobot for 3DS Spiderman Homecoming on Blu Ray Stranger Things on Blu Ray For my Daughter: I got an awesome deal at TRU as they had some coupon codes that were supposed to go to TRU credit card holders. However, they didn't code the coupons correctly and they not only worked for anyone, they stacked on top of it. There were 3 different codes (25% off, 20% off, and 15% off). When used altogether, it effectively gets you a discount of 49% off. TRU had quickly fixed the problem, but not before I used the codes to order my daughter's 2 most desired toys for nearly half off. I did in store pickup and was able to get them paid and picked up before orders were canceled. So, i managed to get Tyler the Roaring Tiger (robot tiger toy) for $62 when normally sold for $115. And I got the Cozmo robot by Anki for $98, normal price is $180. For Nephew: Doom for PS4 Nioh for PS4 Resident Evil 7 for PS4 For Brother: Playstation 4 Slim 1TB Titanfall 2 for PS4 For Niece: Shoes Jewelry 2 Books Friends: SNES Classic (another friend found it for me) Super Metroid Shadowbox (check out these shadow box pictures this guy does. They are awesome. I have 3 hanging in my home office already): www.etsy.com/shop/VideoGameShadowBox?ref=l2-shopheader-nameAll in all, it was a good shopping experience since most of it was done online. The only store I went to was Target and it was a madhouse there. I went to pick up a couple of things and got out as soon as I could. What is most shocking to me is how little shopping I did at Amazon. Normally I do most of my BF shopping at amazon, but retailers like Target and Best Buy really stepped up and offered the same, if not better prices and started offering them on Thanksgiving day. Rather than wait for amazon lightning deals to go live, I could easily just order something from Best Buy with free shipping. So, Best Buy got the lion's share of my business this year.

Dschroll, thanks so much for posting the links to the shadow boxes. My brother had made me one similar to the Link one, but with him pulling out the Master sword and holding it high. I ended up getting three on sale! The Link one, classic Super Mario Bros. and Samus by her ship. Nice on getting the SNES classic, I'm still looking. Like you I didn't get much from Amazon, they seem to be getting worse and worse on each BF. I did end up going to check out some stores on BF around 8:00am and most of them were not too bad since they opened on Thanksgiving. I was happy for the most part to get the leftovers. Nebraska Furniture Mart was the exception as they were not open on Thanksgiving and opened at 8am so by the time I made it over there by around 10 it was still very busy. They had a lot of cashiers though so it wasn't too bad. I ended up getting a lot of Blu-rays for me and the family. NFM and Best Buy had some great sales. Blu-ray: Wonder Woman ($6.49) Spiderman Homecoming ($6.80) Peanuts Movie ($3.80) Expendables 3 pack ($14.09) 13 Hours ($6.79) Ghost in the Shell ($8.79) Great Wall ($4.99) Cars 3 ($6.49) Fences ($2.99) Fury ($5.76) The Intern ($3.00) The Revenant ($4.00) The Book of Life ($4.00) I haven't seen any of the above yet except for The Reveant, Intern, 13 Hours and the Expendables movies so as I kept scanning the Blu-rays at NFM (not all of the sale prices were posted) I said, "Sure, why not give it a chance?" DVD: Furious7 ($.99) Have never seen a Fast and Furious move, and they are probably too over the top for me, but for less than a buck I will try it! I think being in the store with everyone in the BF hype hunting down movies probably contributed in me buying a little more than I should. For games I got: FFXII Zodiac Edition $29 - PS4 (Walmart); One of my favorite games on the PS2 so I had to get this one update Disgaea 5 $20 - Switch (Best Buy); For my brother The Last Guardians $16 - PS4 (Best Buy) Nioh $16 - PS4 (Best Buy); bought on a whim and hope it is good Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition $9 - Xbox One/360 (Walmart) Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition $9 - Xbox One/360 (Walmart) Titanfall 2 $12 -PS4 (Walmart) Midnight Club LA Complete Edition $9 - Xbox One/360 (Walmart) Portal 2 $9 - Xbox One (Walmart) Oblivion Game of the Year Edition $9 - Xbox One/360 (Walmart) Batman Arkham Knight $12 - PS4 (Walmart) Wolfenstein New Order/Old Blood 2 pack $15 - PS4 (Amazon) Fire Emblem Echoes $25 - 3DS (Amazon) Throughout this year I haven't really bought too many games or movies so on Black Friday I kinda more than made up for it. I saw that and would have been all over that if it was a Gen 1 version. Michael Bay has let me down, I guess I am a Transformers snob lol.

Nebraska Furniture Mart had an awesome deal on Playstation VR, but it quickly sold out on line, so I couldn't jump in. Oh well. Probably for the best as I had spent way too much money on myself as is (something I generally feel guilty about). I'm glad you liked the Shadowboxes. I met the guy in person at the Retro Expo I volunteered at in Hartford. He and his wife had a booth there and were selling the pictures. They couldn't be nicer. Seeing them in person I knew I had to get at least one for myself and then it just snowballed with me ultimately buying 2 for me and one for jincman. Then he had his sale and I ended up buying another one for myself and one for a friend of mine here in CT. I just gave jincman his today and he seemed to like it. I think its a great gift idea. Something different than the usual video games or Legos I generally buy. I completely agree with you that Amazon has really dropped the ball when it comes to Black Friday sales. I routinely check amazon daily and have yet to really pounce on something because it was a good sale. I've done that several times though at Best Buy and Target and Toys R Us though. I guess we'll know if their earnings report reflects our lack of enthusiasm with their black friday sales.
