If Breath of the Wild gets its own thread, I think Odyssey deserves one as well. How is everyone enjoying it? Personally, it's my favorite 3D Mario game to date.
I've officially 'beaten' the game (final boss) but am still in the process of completing the game to my satisfaction. I'm going to *try* getting all the moons / coins, we'll see how that goes. I've already run into some extremely difficult levels in the new area you unlock after beating the final boss (hopefully that's not a huge spoiler to anyone).
What a great game though, it's right up there with Breath of the Wild for my favorite game of the year. Breath of the Wild gets some bonus points for completely shaking up the Zelda series, but Odyssey is a masterpiece in its own right.

Good grief. I decided to try my hand at getting the rest of the moons. I'm up to 901 now. But some of these I just don't know if I can do. I'm honestly amazed at some of them I did do, like the jump rope to 100 or the volleyball to 100. I didn't think I had a chance at those, but somehow magically I got it after enough tries.
But I went to the darker side of the moon and holy crap does this look insane. I watched a youtube video on it and it's absolutely insane with no checkpoints whatsoever. I just don't know if I have the patience for it. Heck, I had put about 40 hours into Mario getting about 500 moons and beating bowser and such. From there I got a guide and decided to methodically start going after all the moons/coins. Even with a guide, I've easily sunk another 30 hours into the game as I had no desire to aimlessly wander around looking for moons. And some of those moons are so well hidden there is no way I would have found them (like some of the art work ones).
So, I've been plugging away at Mario for the past week or so, completing a kingdom per day, but now I'm at a crossroads. I still have to complete the Mushroom Kingdom, the Dark Side Kingdom, and the Darker Side Kingdom. Many of these, especially the Darker side, require absolute precision. I'd love to 100% this game but just don't know if I have it in me. I'm already starting to get a bit burnt out on it. Do I keep plugging away hoping to get through some more of these areas or just give it a break and move onto something else?
Don't get me wrong, I love this game. I honestly think this is the best Mario game of all time. But I feel like Nintendo put too much stuff in it. I appreciate tons of content, but so much of this feels like unnecessary padding. I think the game could have easily stopped at 500 moons and I would have considered it a perfect game then. I still would rate it a 10/10, but it really feels like there's a lot of overkill in this to 100% this game.
What do you guys think? Give Mario a break or keep plugging along?

I'd say keep going with the disclaimer that if it's not enjoyable anymore then you might as well stop. I collected them all, but there were definitely some tough ones. However, even the toughest ones got easier with repetition (like those in Darker Side).
For me the hardest ones were the jump rope and volleyball ones. I only cleared them using some tricks I found online, other than that I found / beat the rest of the moons on my own. Although I will say the parrot in each level became *extremely* useful to me to give me a hint for another moon. Without the parrot I would likely been super frustrated trying to find random moons.
