If anyone hadn't heard, Best Buy has officially eliminated the GCU program. I saw the news on cheapassgamer.com. I'm hoping they still honor existing memberships (mine seems to still work and is good through March 2020 fortunately) but this is pretty terrible news. I wonder how much longer before Amazon removes their 20% preorder discount?

This completely suxs. I may cancel my BB credit card and stop shopping there. They may have lost a lot of money from me.

Saw that too. I HOPE Amazon doesn't end their pre-order discount. Then we have no more options.

I'm hoping they still honor existing memberships (mine seems to still work and is good through March 2020 fortunately) but this is pretty terrible news. I wonder how much longer before Amazon removes their 20% preorder discount? Yep, I saw the same thing on CAG. It is absolutely a huge bummer. I honestly had moved all of my game shopping from amazon to Best Buy. I became an Elite member at Best Buy for the first time last year and am on track for this year. Rumor has it that they will let the memberships expire but won't let people renew. Mine unfortunately will expire in October, so I will enjoy it while I can. Honestly, I don't see them continuing the program past 2018 and just issuing people with existing memberships some kind of partial refund or possibly some rewards certs. It's bad news all around though. I honestly spent a ton of money on video games because of this program. Not sure how much profit BB made, but they easily got way more money from me than I would have spent otherwise. Now if the program expires, no more buying games on release day, no more pre orders from me, pretty much all of my business at BB will dry up. I gave them all of my game business because of GCU. I also buy the occasional Blu Ray and other items at BB because I figure I might as well stack the points on top of all my game spending. If the game spending goes though, then so does everything else I buy there. There's no incentive for me to shop there unless something is on sale, and amazon will likely match the sale price. At this point, I'm trying to pre order anything I am remotely interested in for the rest of 2018...Spiderman, Shenmue, etc. Just hoping more stuff I want goes up for pre order so I can get my order in before my membership expires in October.

I want to pre-order Detroit Become Human and Amazon doesn't even have that up even thought May 25 is the release date. Argh.

Rumor has it that some publishers don't like the GCU and Amazon Prime discount program, so they don't put their games up for pre order on those sites to keep people from getting the games discounted at launch. Not sure if this is true, but that might be why BB/Amazon doesn't have RDR2 nor Detroit up for pre order.

I just saw the Target flyer showing it being in-store on Friday.

Detroit is up on BB now, but not Amazon. Dammit.
