New year, new thread!
Just finished Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns for Switch. One of my favorite games I've played in a while. It's match-three mixed with RPG elements, and it was extremely well-done. I beat the final boss (which was HARD) after getting smoked a bunch of times. I had to actually come up with a strategy to take him down and once I equipped everything I needed I beat him on the next try. Super fun ... albeit quite lengthy. (90+ hours on my gaming log.) You can actually play as a bunch of characters, so I can see revisiting this down the road. And although I'm a completionist there's WAY too much even for me to attempt in this game. The 90 hours was just beating the game and completing all side quests, not getting every item available.

Finished Horizon Chase Turbo (Switch). I beat it a while ago, but was trying to complete everything. I changed my mind. It's fun, but finishing everything is getting a bit too tedious for me. Really fun old-school racer though. Loved it.

Really fun old-school racer though. Loved it. Yeah, one of the few games where I ended up buying it again on the Switch after I already had it on PS4. Great to quickly get in a couple of races if you only want a quick game session. Very similar to Top Gear, probably my favorite racing game of all time. They brought back the same artist, Barry Leitch, to do the music for Horizon Chase Turbo. Really like his stuff:

Captain Toads Treasure Tracker on Switch with DLC. This is a Wii U port but being the rabid switch collector I’ve become I purchased and played it again on switch. Great little puzzle game you can play in bite sized levels. My biggest criticism is that some of the challenges are annoying and if you truly want to 100% the game you have to complete those. That was my goal when first playing as I progressed through each of the books. And I did until I got to the dlc. By that point I had gotten burnt out and I’m calling it quits. Still, definitely recommend this one if you’ve never played it and like a good puzzle platformer game. Fits on the switch perfectly. 8/10

Revisiting the Burnout series, specifically the games I never fully completed (back when I did NOT complete everything).
Today I finished 100%-ing Burnout 2: Point of Impact (PS2). Really fun game, but the rubber band AI gets pretty annoying on the final levels. I had to resort to resetting in between levels to get all golds. Overall a good time and appropriate lead-in for my favorite PS2 Burnout game (#3 Takedown).

Finished Celeste for Switch. Great platformer, great story, all-around great game. I'm still on the fence about going back to try to collect everything because there's a LOT to collect. For now, I'll just enjoy beating this one and reaching the credits. Extremely hard 2D platformer, but I was able to finish without using any of the assist options. Took me around 10 hours to finish with only moderate amounts of searching for extras. I read that you can spend up to 50 hours if you're trying to get everything!

Sick this weekend, so I finished one more I've been working on for a while: Puzzle Quest 2 for Nintendo DS. Not nearly as good as Puzzle Quest for Switch, but I still enjoy match 3 puzzle games so it was relatively fun but also tedious at times. 7/10.

I had to put that down for a while. That platforming is above my skill level.

Finished Super Mario 3. Had been playing coop via Nintendo Online with my brother, and the lag was annoying. Can't believe Nintendo can't even get a 30 year old game running better online.
Anyway, played through it offline and cleared every level. I had forgotten how challenging some of the levels were, especially without enough power-ups. Probably the last truly hard Mario 2D platformer to beat.

Sadly, Nintendo does not seem to put a lot of stock into making a great online performance in games. Their games seem to be hit or miss when it comes to network code. Well, it's been a while since I've last posted here, but I've been playing some games whenever time permits. Finished a few more Switch games:
Ghost Blade -- This is a shmup, but sadly not a great one. I believe the game has 7 levels and can be finished in about an hour (on easy mode). My biggest beef with the game is that as you destroy things, they give you stars, which automatically swarm to your ship, which in turn upgrades your ship. The problem is, the stars also cover up bullets from the enemies. I died so many times because of a bullet I didn't see as hundreds of stars were flying to me. Ultimately I had to put the game on easy mode just to make it through it. So, this one was a bit of a miss for me. Would give it a 6/10.
Blazing Chrome -- For anyone that likes old school Super Contra, this game is a must play. It is a ton of fun to play and is challenging but not unfair. The game also has check points on normal mode, so if you do die, you start from your last check point rather than the beginning of the level. The graphics and music are great, the controls are spot on. My biggest criticism is there's no spread gun. But what a great game overall. Absolutely worth your time. 9/10.
Ninja Saviors -- This is a beat'em up game that's relatively easy on normal mode. You only get one life and if you die, you start from the beginning of the level again. Unlimited conintues though. This game is relatively easy and didn't get tough until the last level. Graphics and sound are good, although characters move a bit slow for my liking. Overall, finished this one in a couple of hours. Not a bad game if you like beat'em ups, but not nearly as good as others like Streets of Rage. 7/10.
And, great minds must think alike because I just finished Horizon Chase Turbo as well.
Horizon Chase Turbo -- I don't have to tell you what this game is as it was posted in detail above. Great arcade racing game. My biggest criticism is after some extended play, the game would start to bog down with low frame rates, or outright crash. When I rebooted, it was fine, but after playing off and on for a few hours, it would really get glitchy. Overall though, I love the music, graphics and controls. Excellent racing game. I finished world tour at 100%. Would give this game an 8.5 / 10 (if not for the glitches, would've been a 9 easily).

I ask because I also completed world tour (playing hours at a time) and don't recall any glitches of consequence. Also were you playing primarily handheld or docked? I have a V2 and played docked.

I have a V1 and played mostly in handheld, but found the same to be true even in docked mode.

Hmm ... I didn't think V2 made much of a difference with processing power, but maybe some change (temp control?) enables the Switch to avoid higher temps and CPU or GPU throttling.

Finished Unlock the King for Switch. Fun chess-based puzzle game, but very short. Still worth it due to the cheap price.

Kentucky Route Zero TV Edition. I waited a while to play this, glad I binged it. Very interest, melancholy story. I'll be honest, some parts are a grind, but then again, maybe that's the point.
If you like story based games, this might be worth a shot.

Completed BYE-BYE BOXBOY! for 3DS. All levels (regular, bonus, challenge) completed. The difficulty spikes way up on the bonus levels, but it's still one of my favorite puzzle series. It's motivated me to get the BoxBoy game on Switch, so I'll probably start that at some point.

You would think in this environment I'd actually finish some games. I've been SWAMPED at work and averaging 7 different Zoom calls a day. I'm so burned out on screens that the last thing I want to do is stare at one even to relax.
