OK, let's get it started.
My old colleague now works at at Sony and warned me that supply will be limited.
I signed up on the PSN links for pre-orders, figured it would't hurt. I saw the pre-orders go up this afternoon and tried Best Buy. Kept getting a weird checkout w/ no luck. Bummed but oh well.
Just checked my email and I got selected from Sony's PSN list. So hopefully that works on Friday. Plan is to order the main model since I want the disc player, extra controller and probably Spiderman. Maybe by the time I get this, we'll actually have some options to buy an AVR with full 2.1 support.

Got my pre-order in through Sony. System upgrades in progress:
1) Ain't no way 825 GB is going to be enough. Will need to figure out a 2 TB internal SSD option. 2) I want to play/watch in 4K. Hopefully, my existing, in wall HDMI cables can handle the 4K. Assuming yes, I'll need a new AVR. Currently have a Denon 3310ci and don't need anything beyond 5.1 so looking for something around that range.

I managed to get very lucky and got 2 PS5 pre orders in. One at Target and the other with Sony, like you Cesar. However, one is going to a friend who really wants it and the other to a colleague. I'm not interested in getting neither system at launch as there really aren't any big games I'm interested in playing short of Spiderman, which is coming to PS4 as well. So I'll wait until the next rev comes out as no doubt there will be kinks. I've had bad luck with launch Sony hardware.
BUT, I do need to get myself a new TV. I'm hoping with the elite group of AVS geeks we have here, you guys can help recommend some excellent sets for me to keep my eyes out for. I waited this long as I figured I should get something with HDMI 2.1. Now it's just a matter of figuring out what's the best bang for my buck. I'm looking at 65 inch and I'd like to keep the price under $1500. Ideally closer to $1200 but if there's some amazing set out there that's not much more I'm willing to splurge. I'm hesitant to get OLED due to burn in and I'll be using the TV to play games (old and new) along with movie watching. It will be in my basement so fairly dark room, not tons of light.
I'll need a new AVR at some point as well, but TV first.

Welcome to the club, in many levels. Kinda agree w/ you on the PS5 but y'all know I'm an early adopter. Spiderman really is the only title. Who knows, if the demand is there, I might resell and use the funds for other toys.
I also had to get a new TV this year when my beloved Panasonic VT30 plasma finally died. I had the caps repaired once and after the 2nd time, it was time to move on. After much research, I decided on OLED and don't regret it. Went with the 65" LG C9, debating whether I wanted to spend the extra $$ for that 10" delta from my old 55". Glad I did, I just trolled sales until it got under $2K. I wouldn't worry about burn in, I didn't even over-analyze the calibration. I'm watching cinema mode, brightness turned down a bit but I mostly watch at night in a dark room. Blacks are comparable to plasma. And with the right HDR content, it is NIGHT and DAY. I watched Eco Challenge on Amazon Prime (TV is my only 4K source) and it was INSANELY gorgeous in 4K HDR.
The receiver is a problem. My Denon 3310ci couldn't handle the e-ARC return channel so in order to get the digital audio to work, I had to use an ethernet balun and run the optical audio back into my AVR. As of now, I think there might be only a handful of truly HDMI 2.1 receivers. I'm still waiting for the choices to improve before moving. But I really want that w/ the PS5.
I'm seriously considering the Sony X900H for my new TV. Costco is selling the 65 inch model for under $1k and it comes with a 7 year warranty if I use my Costco credit card. Seem like a sweet deal. The TV, while note state of the art, seems like it hits the sweet spot for me in terms of value. Full Array local dimming, HDMI 2.1, Dolby Vision, all for under $1k. Reviews overall seem to be very positive on this set. I was looking at the Samsung Q80T but it's now $800 more expensive and doesn't support Dolby Vision. Seems like no matter what I choose I would have to make a concession on something, but this Sony seems like the best bang for your buck.
