Figured I'd make a thread since this is a landmark release by Nintendo.
I got the physical version, but I have to say I'm disappointed with the implementation. My main gameplay gripe is that they changed the camera controls for Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine. I have played those games a bunch and was used to the original controls (inverted camera). Well, the new release makes the camera non-inverted and has no option to change it. For me, this is a massive issue. If they don't provide a patch to allow changing it I expect to sell it (for a tidy profit) after it goes away next March (another ridiculous decision).
My other gripe is no Super Mario Galaxy 2. SMG2 is probably my favorite of all the 3D Mario games, so to not include it seems pretty lame in an "All-Stars" collection.
I'm playing through Mario 64 right now and it's still a super fun game, but after only 10 minutes in Sunshine I was already frustrated with the controls (oh, and it's both FLUDD *and* the camera that are non-inverted in Sunshine). I moved the spray the wrong way literally every time I went to spray water. I'm baffled.

I picked up 3D all stars and am digging it thus far. Admittedly, I never had an N64 (until recently) so I never played Mario 64 on it. I played it a bit on some friends N64, but the first time I owned and played the game all the way through was on my DS. Now I'm playing it again on Switch and I don't notice any issues with inverted camera controls. Again though, I've not spent the time on it that you have UsualNoise. So far I'm really enjoying the game, although I'm doing the Clock Course now and holy hell is this a pain in the ass stage. So many camera issues and so many traps. Thankfully I'm almost finished with the game as I'm up to 112 stars. These last few are going to be a pain to get though.
Overall though, this is a minimal presentation effort from Nintendo. I really wanted something special in that it goes into the history of these games and gives us a ton of great behind the scenes or making of info. Just a bare bones effort though. I hope they do better for Zelda's 35th anniversary.

Finally finished Mario 64 with all 120 stars. Man, those last few levels were challenging. Overall though the game still holds up all these years later. I look forward to going through Sunshine and Galaxy but I need a reprieve from Mario for a bit. Since it's October, I have a tradition of playing halloween themed games.

Nice! Yeah, Rainbow Ride is quite the level. I'm trying to 100% all 3 games - I've never completed Mario Sunshine and I've already encountered rage-inducing levels and it's still early ... I'm not looking forward to the really hard levels. I have to say I think Super Mario Sunshine is the hardest of all the 3D Mario games.
