Now reaper, did you not read the happy birthday thread I had set up for you? Go back and check it out. This deal was posted there especially for you, cause I'm a thoughtful guy

Aha... no I didn't notice the link. Thanks. It looks like an outstanding game! Don't you guys agree?
However, I went through the purchase steps at OutPost only to find out that ground shipping was more than $6. I can buy it at Frys for $29.99+tax. The final cost is only $4 more to buy it locally. So, it's not a smoking deal. I might stop by Frys on the way home and grab this and the new Static X CD.

If you aren't using the GBA, then it's definitely a great deal. However, I see them being annoyingly picky about which games qualify for the deal...

I never use the GBA anymore. I agree w/ you about being picky though. Heck, might as well give it a shot. Can't hurt to try.

oldskool, I think this sounds like a pretty good deal. If you don't use the old GBA, definitely trade it in. EB games is picky with some, but as long as you got 5 and they're not sports titles, you can typically get them to count them. This way you can use the DS to keep playing GBA games and now you can play some DS games. I'm sure Oddjob and several others here can definitely recommend a few solid DS games to check out if you're interested.

Ah, but the trick is figuring out which GBA games to give up. I still like Mario Kart and I was thinking of giving up my baseball one...
I'm in sales, let's see how good my negotiation skills are...

oldskool, don't forget that Mario Kart DS is coming out later this year and it will be online. So, giving up GBA mario kart might be a good move if you think you won't play it any more in favor of Mario Kart DS. This will actually be the mario kart I get to finally play online with you people.

But I guess it depends on how soon you want the game. I know you've been wanting this game for a little while now, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts about it. Since I still haven't played Kotor, I think I'll probably pass on Jade Empire altogether. I just have too many other games to get to and I really do want Kotor to be one of them. If I can manage to avoid getting the next gen systems early on, I might be more willing to check out a few current gen games that I had to pass on. But, as you mentioned in another thread, it all depends on how long I can resist jumping into the next gen

Well, I bought it last night. I just stopped in at Circuit City and picked it up there. It was $29.99. I really enjoy it so far. I love the active combat system vs the pont and click combat in KOTOR. I prefer the ninja story line over a star wars storyline. The graphics are incredible and the voice acting is superb. I have put about 1.5 hrs into the game and won my first major battle. It was very cool. So far, I agree with IGN that this is a superb title and it is specifically great for me.
I love action/adventure games but don't like many facets of the typical RPGs Jade Empire seems to fix many problems that keep me from buying RPGs:
Action is true combat based. Push a button to punch... push a button to block
No in depth skill management. You level up but choices of whee to put the new skill points are very limited
No overwhelming inventory management
No requirement to read overwhelming amounts of text
These add up to a fun game with an exciting storyline to me. Can't wait to play some more...

OK, so I did it. Not a bad deal, since I don't even touch the GBA. Found out I only have 5 games total, so I was just under the wire. I guess I'll wait for Mario Kart DS.
Picked up a used Mario Bros DS, just so I could actually try it. Any other can't miss DS games? I'm more interested in interesting/unique games that take advantage of the dual screen and/or stylus. On the GC, I've liked Pikmin and RE series. On the DS, platformers and "puzzle" types are good. Games that I can play for 10 min at a time here and there are probably the best for me.
Yeah, I know, I should look at Meteos...

Oldskool,
Congrats on being a DS owner. I think you'll be quite happy. There are still plenty of great GBA games to play(like Zelda Minish Cap and Wario Ware Twisted) along with great DS games. Good choice with Mario 64 DS. Even if you already have played Super Mario 64, there are a ton of mini games in the DS one that give it some good replay value.
Here is a short list of excellent games I highly recommend:
Meteos--puzzle Zoo Keeper--puzzle Kirby Canvas Curse--platform

This is an excellent find Jay. However, its obvious that this was a pricing mistake on amazon's part. For those of you that get in on this deal, don't be surprised if you get an email from amazon saying that they made a mistake and will be charging you full price.
Also, don't forget that while the 3 different versions of Nintendogs each start out with very specific dogs, all the dogs on all 3 versions can eventually be unlocked.
