Are these for Best Buy? Astroboy and Castlevania look tempting, but I'm in enough trouble as it is because of the other games I got.

Modified my post. remember, Astroboy is for the PS2, which is a game that didn't get that great of reviews. The GBA one scored very well though. LOL...with as much money you spent at Gamerush(even though you scored GREAT deals) I understand

In regards to the DS deal with the free Mario 64 game:
I just got word that this will be offered at all "participating retailers" across the country. Nintendo produced national TV spots for it yesterday. As far as a start date for the sale, I am going to guess June 12, for thats when the EB sale starts

I think I'm going to pick up X-men legends. MGS3 is so tempting, but now that they're coming out with Substinence I might just hold off.
I really like this "Deal of the Day" thread.
Oh, by the way:
Gamestop is having a Buy 2 Previously Owned Get 1 Free sale coming up as well, starting on June 10.

MGS3 is very tempting for me too, but I just can't buy any more games right now til I beat something that I have. Even then, the next 2 must get games for me are Zelda: Minish Cap and Wario Ware Twisted. So, if anyone hears of any great deals for either of these games, please let me know.
Yeah, I like this thread too. I'll definitely keep posting on here. What I recommend is posting a date at the top of each post so that people can distinguish how old the deal is that you're posting.

I'm sure that MGS3 is a great game overall. But I had an experience the other night where I started it up and played for about 2 minutes and then watched 25 minutes of cut scenes. I HATE that. Metroid is so much better... getting the story as you play. Also, I was under the impression that you could walk anywhere in the jungle. But everything I've seen so far indicates that there are clearly defined paths. I am not very far into it yet, so it must get better. reaper

Vado, I've heard Tales for the GC is very good. BK I also heard was good, but not as good as Tales. Reaper, Thanks for the heads up on MGS3. I've read a lot of solid reviews of MGS3, which is why I did want to check it out. However, I am eager to hear what you think once you get further into it. Maybe it might not be for me. Please keep us posted here on your progress and your opinions. Might want to start a new thread. Nothru once described playing MGS3 as laying in the lawn for an hour and then standing up and getting kicked in the nuts

I've put a few hours into Tales now and I'm liking it so far.
The good: Enemies on the overworld map and dungeons. I can't stand random battles and being able to avoid enemies when I want to makes me happy.
Enemies in dungeons don't return as long as you don't leave the room. This allows for exploration.. thank god!
The combat system forces you to use strategy and in a real time manner. Its not turn based at all. You control one member of your party and the strategies of all the other members. You actually have to dodge and defend against attacks. If you simply run up to the enemies and button mash, you'll quickly be surrounded and dead.
The game itself looks good as long as you like an anime style.
Neutral: The story so far is nothing terribly special. Pretty typical RPG fare.
The bad: Maybe I'm missing some control feature or something, but in combat you choose one creature and your character is aligned permanently with that creature. You can only run toward it and away from it while the creature gets a full range of motion. While the game does provide you with techniques to knock back an enemy into a more advantageous position, its very frustrating to be stuck in a corner when the situation gets bad.
While enemies in dungeons don't respawn as long as you stay in the same room, they do return if you leave the room. Combine this with puzzles that require you to run back and forth between rooms and you just get some annoyance. Still, its better than random battles.
Puzzles so far have been braindead chimp easy.
There's this permanent blur effect on the edges of the screen during story sequences designed to focus your attention toward the middle. This gets distracting at times.
"Dragon fang, dragon fang, dragon fang, dragon fang, dragon fang, angel feathers, sword rain, dragon fang, dragon fang, angel feathers, dragon fang, dragon fang." Play the game for a few hours and you'll understand.
Overall, I'm enjoying it so far, but you'd have to like RPG's to enjoy it. It won't be a must play for someone who's lukewarm about RPG's.

"Dragon fang, dragon fang, dragon fang, dragon fang, dragon fang, angel feathers, sword rain, dragon fang, dragon fang, angel feathers, dragon fang, dragon fang." Play the game for a few hours and you'll understand. Or just be in the same room when someone is playing....my god, you're gonna hear dragon fang a million times in a 3 second period OK, so I exaggerate, and I haven't played the game yet, the person who is lending us the game enjoyed it very much. I just wanted to vent about that stupid dragon fang.

thanks y'all! i admit to having some very slight reservations about RPGs these days (most square/ff main characters make me want to yell "get the damn operation already!"), but really the only limiting factor has been the time investment. ive been DYING to go thru chrono cross- wait, what was today's deal? anything? - anyway yeah i keep hearing that that games a great big ostrich of a nut-kicker (ostriches are the animal kingdom's star punters. really!- i once saw this video where an ostrich kicked a grizzly bear clear over a row of datsuns. datsuns are old cars so you know its true since the inernet didnt exist back then). this gen; ive had my eye on Dark cloud 2, Tales, a KoToR, and DW8 - but ive not played any of those since DW4. but i kinda dont want to delve into an rpg until i clear out a stack of these backlogged games. should i have started a new thread? maybe. but this keeps the deal of the day thing fresh on everyones mind.
well....so long as this "dragon fang" silliness doesnt reach the supposed gargantuan embarrassment of Toejam n Earl 3's use of "Funk", all should be a-ok.
thanks again everbody.

this gen; ive had my eye on Dark cloud 2, Tales, a KoToR, and DW8 - but ive not played any of those since DW4. I would recommend Dark Cloud 2. Great game, although I personally liked the first one better (and I think I might be the only one). Similar gameplay, but there's a ton of extra stuff in the second one that didn't need to be there in my opinion (golf minigame...I mean come on, I can deal with the fishing minigame, but golf?). If you haven't played the first one, it's a nice "lighter" game than the first, but it doesn't have as much depth or stuff to do because of that (which might be what you're looking for). Ok, I'm done. Sorry to continue the hijacking of the deal of the day thread

excellent! thanks again for the advice. those DC2 reviews citing similarities to Actraiser made my ears perk. Ok, I'm done. Sorry to continue the hijacking of the deal of the day thread hey, i think i started this mess, no? but its probably inevitable, especially in a thread like this where older cheap games have the spotlight.
