Say it aint so. Rumor has it that Nintendo Power could be gone soon. I guess in this day and age, its difficult for any magazine to get any exclusive content when info is leaked so quickly through the internet. Still, I think I signed up for 2 more years of N Power. What happens if they go under? Do I get a refund or am I just SOL?

I think it's a bit boneheaded to fold up Nintendo Power. I admit that they still need a bit more revamping . . . less focus on youth and more focus on a wider audience they have attracted with the WI and DS. That might help.
Nintendo has done so many things right lately . . . I would hate to see them do something stupid.

NP would need a HUGE overhaul to appeal to the non-gamer Wii/DS crowd. We're talkin weekly distribution on top of a restructered format and presentation; utlimately sometihng akin to those other mainstream mags. think chick mags. and, if that overhaul didnt happen, then they may as well shut down, because as D mentioned, the hardcore crowd (us) knows to look elsewhere for our information.

I like that mag, I really do. However, if the goal is to go mainstream I guess they do need to change the format. Oh well, was fun while it lasted.

I generally avoid any magazine made by a company that makes game consoles and/or games. They always seem too biased towards their own console and games.

I subscribed to them way back around the time that Super Mario Bros. 2 came out and stayed on for about 3 years but moved on to gaming magazines like EGM and GameFan as they were more news focused, multi-console, and just better magizines in general. NP was geared toward the younger ones and I didn't care for the walkthroughs or mediocre reviews that made up the bulk of the magazine.
I recently subscribed again (after almost 20 years) because of the Zelda Soundtrack/Player Guide bonus and also after hearing the magazine had been recently overhauled in design. It's better but still doesn't hold my attention for too long. And now after only about 4 issues in I hear this news. That sucks. I wonder what will happen with the rest of my subscription.

Perrin said in an interview recently that they are taking the Magazine to a 2nd party. Nintendo will still lord over control of it though. So in the end, there won't be much of a change to the reader I'm guessing. Reggie had also hinted in the past of moving some of the content to a Wii channel as well . . . which makes sense.

My coworker gave me his stash of Nintendo Power from 1990 to 1997, sans 1995 but he may not have pulled it out of storage yet. Most of the issues are there and they are in pretty good condition, though I think most of posters/inserts are gone.
Any ideas what this might realistically be worth? He didn't want to deal w/ it and I told him that if I got something substantial, I'd split it w/ him.

Contact your local retro game store to see if they'll buy them. I know mine buys that stuff.
