I've been playing this game co-op with my daughter for a couple months and figured I'd share some thoughts. First of all, if you enjoyed BOTW and Hyrule Warriors this is a no-brainer. You'll like it. I played a lot of the original Hyrule Warriors (and really enjoyed it) but I think AoC is the better game. It is very polished, has tons of cut-scenes that flesh out the BOTW universe, and the move set available to each character is extensive, diverse, and (in many cases) unique to the character.
There are framerate issues in 2-player mode that are quite obvious, especially when both are executing strong / special attacks. However, the game is enjoyable enough that these few video issues don't bother me.
The reason I came in to post today, though, was my daughter and I are almost at the end of the side mission list (20 main missions, 161 side missions) and we did the mission "The Siege of Fort Hateno" last night. We're playing on Hard mode (only Very Hard is above that) for the whole game, so all these final levels are intense. But the Fort Hateno level: oh my goodness. If you viewed all the BOTW memories you'll know what went down in Fort Hateno and saw a glimpse of the destruction. In Age of Calamity you get to actually participate in that battle. And it is no joke. We spent about 3 1/2 hours on it and had to restart from checkpoints a few times before barely escaping with our lives. Barely.
Anyway, that one massive mission alone bumped up my rating of the game to a 9/10 (it was 8.5 before). The amount of content in that one mission blew me away.
Really, the content in the game as a whole is massive since you not only level up characters but weapons as well. I actually haven't even finished unlocking everything and I've spent 60 hours on the game. Now it's nowhere near Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition due to the Adventure Mode content in that game, but it's more compact and better presented in AoC and as a result, more satisfying to me.
