I realize there is almost no activity in here anymore, but I felt that this release deserved a new thread given its place in history as the successor to one of the greatest games of all time. Early reviews indicate it is a worthy successor.
I have only just barely started the game, but so far it is as enjoyable as I expected. If only I weren't so busy I could invest more time in it. As it stands, this will be a game I only play a little here and there ... so it will be quite some time before I beat it. If/when that happens I'll add some thoughts on the experience.

I finally beat the game last night after investing about 180 hours. Overall, it is a worthy successor to Breath of the Wild. The only thing I might say as a negative is it is a little TOO similar to the original ... but the original was so good that's not much of a complaint. I'm nowhere near completing everything in the game (a few shrines left, many side quests to do, MANY MANY Koroks still to get) but I'll be leisurely doing that stuff going forward. After playing Tears of the Kingdom and enjoying many of the new abilities Link has, it's going to be rough going back to Breath of the Wild without them.
For me personally, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are the best Zelda games ever released. It's been a pleasure to be able to go on this open-world journey with Link that Nintendo somehow pulled off.
