Good job, 21 times at 275 is crazy.
For me, this weekend has been kind of tough. My aunt, who I am really close with has been battling cancer for the last few years and recently it became much worse. I was planning a test run on Friday for this workout but got a call that evening that she was doing very badly and had become unresponsive. So I and a lot of family went over there to see her (for the last time) and she ended up dying at 2am on Saturday morning. Very surreal having to wait there while they came (around 4:30) to pick up the body. My grandma of course took it the worst, no parent should ever have to bury their child, but still, for the most part everyone has handled it pretty well.
I'm the one that is taking care of most of the funeral stuff for the family and we spent most of the day Saturday going over details and buying a casket. Today I am going to the funeral home to negotiate pricing (I can't believe how much of a rip-off this stuff is, when I die just throw me in the river or something and have a party with great food) because my grandmother was going to overpay thousands of dollars for this stuff.
Anyways, I did the workout yesterday. Wanted to do it after church but my wife had a terrible headache. My mom ended up coming over later so I got her to help me (she was nervous with me doing the step-ups haha). I got a score of 91 finishing my last set of box step-ups at 7:20.
Was able to get one in at 275 before the time was up. Actually felt pretty good afterwards, back and all, I think I could have squeezed out a couple more reps if I did it again. Today though, I am feeling it a bit in my back but still nothing too bad. I know I didn't do a good job of getting my feet flat on the ground due to the pad that the weight was on but I didn't care at the time. I just tried to be methodical in my approach, not rushing but just keeping after it. But thinking back I could have sped up some. Anyways, after the weekend, that WOD was actually kind of therapeutic. Now to get ready to talk to the funeral home.

Oh and last night I was on games.crossfit.com watching a lot of the user submitted videos. Very motivating for me because I felt their pain because I did it with them lol. My wife was even watching some of them and said she felt the same way. She's debating doing this with me next year (yay!!!).
Also, starting today I am getting serious about changing my eating habits/lifestyle. I can't really do paleo (I love my carbs, beans, etc.) but I'm going to just start eating better and lose weight. Hopefully yesterday was our last snow of the year so I'd like to get out today and do some running. Anyways, just wanted to say thanks, you and reaper's updates in this thread are inspiring and keep me motivated.

First condolences to your and your family. That's rough. My parents are getting up there and I know I'll be going through that situation at some point. My wife and I always discuss that this is the starting point. After college, you go to a bunch of weddings. Then it's baby showers/parties. Then it's funerals. Circle of life I suppose. My wife and I finished our wills and health care directives and all our docs are sitting w/ attorneys just in case. It was gut wrenching going through all the scenarios of who takes care of who, who gets what, etc. But at least we know it's handled and save the hassle and heartache for those later on.
91 is solid, especially after what you had to deal with. I went into it wanting triple digits, but DEFINITELY not at the expense of my back. I've read tons of stories of folks just trying to get those last few reps, even REPEATING the WOD, which I think is insane unless you're on the bubble to make regionals or the Games (for Masters). I'd much rather save my back and come back out alive and healthy, we still have 2 more WODs and the rest of the year to play.
That's SO cool to hear your wife is even thinking about it. Tons of great stories on the main site, just regular folk getting their first PRs or joining the Games for the 1st time. I've definitely guilted some newbies at the gym to try it this year. They were disappointed when they had some goats (like CTB) but also ecstatic hitting PRs. One friend just started working on DUs and never does them in a WOD. She was worried on 14.1, so I judged her. She got 85 DUs, including stringing up to 8 in a row. She was psyched. That's all you need, you don't need to win the Games, cuz a lot of us aren't. I always think of it like golf, where I stink. You'll play a crappy round, then you get that 1 straight tee shot onto the fairway, or that 50' putt that just drains, and then you love golf again.
Good for you on the eating. Yeah, full paleo is tough, as I said, I don't necessarily do that, mostly 60 to 70% at best. BUT, I found completely removing soda and processed foods helped a ton. And you don't have remove carbs, just reduce it. It can't be a diet or it won't be sustainable or more important, enjoyable. Figure a middle ground that you can live w/, and go w/ that. For soda (and beer, lets' be honest), I found that drinking heavily carbonated water helped w/ cravings. We have a Sodastream at home so I make it REALLY bubbly. I've also found that lots of restaurants (including fast food) like Rubio's, Chipotle's, etc have not only water in the fountain machine but soda water. I just fill up a glass w/ soda water and grab a few lemon wedges. It ain't soda but does help curb that itch.

Nice job on the vid. You get an RX+ for the taller box. Isn't it surprising how tired you get from walking up stairs and a simple deadlift? I think this was a devilishly programmed WOD. Looks easy on paper but then wen you do it, not so much.
Next year, you might consider dropping into a box and doing the WODs there. I think you'll find the energy of other people will get you a bunch more reps.

185# OHS PR today. 10# from a few months ago. And I had a little more in the tank. 200# is looking good for the year.
The surprising thing is that 175# is my jerk PR so I can safely say I PR'ed that too, as a back jerk PR no less.

Thanks for the condolences, things are getting better. 185# for OHS... I was still sore yesterday a bit from the deadlifts. Not bad but was feeling it. Today the wife and I went to the park and did a little running. OHS sounds good, might do those tomorrow. Out of the crossfit workouts this year though, I definitely liked 14.3 the most so far. And to think, less than 48 hours until 14.4 is announced.

After big/long/heavy workouts, I opt for active recovery on the next day. I tend to do things like long, slow rowing. Slow running/hiking is also go. Doesn't have to be long (and not strenuous) but I find it much more useful than complete rest. I'm much less sore that way.

173, rough one.
I've been in Vegas and got on the 7 AM flight Sat. I woke up at 4:30 AM. I got in the last heat that started around 12:45 or so. I was hoping for at least 180 and wanted to give the MU a try. Many people seemed to go too fast on the row and then lose it on the TTB. I rowed for about 3:30/3:45 w/ the intention of having gas for the TTB. I started w/ 5 in a row and then did singles. Man, it gassed me too. Go to the wall balls and did them in 5's. Got to the Cleans in under 11:00 or so but only managed 23. Going below 181 is going to drop me like a rock on the leaderboard.
Definitely great programming because if don't have an MU, you shouldn't be going to regionals. It's def a separator movement. But shit, I didn't even get a chance. Oh well...

Yeah, MUs are a whole new level and it a good requirement for regionals. 173 is still a great number to me though.
This week has still been hectic, I won't get into all the details but it's been pretty hard on my Grandma so I'm just doing what I can to help. Getting ready to head off to the funeral in a few minutes and then catch a flight to Wisconsin for my job right afterwards. Wednesday should be getting back to normal though. I didn't do 14.4 because of the lack of a rowing machine. I should have looked into going to a crossfit site but honestly I wasn't feeling it with everything going on. I've been doing better overall with changing my eating and working out in general though.

Oh boy, I feel like I'm dying now... Workout 14.5 For time 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 reps of: Thrusters, 95 / 65 lb. Burpees At first glance I thought that this wasn't too bad, then I realized it is 21 reps, then 18, then 15...oh boy. So tonight I try with a lighter weight just to get a feel for it, a trial run with 82# instead of 95#. I divided the first sets of thrusters into threes, 7 at a time, next set at 6 and so on. Even with the set of 18 I was just doing my burpees by kneeling down and getting back up. I was dog tired. At this point the only time I was jumping was the two feet over the bar, everything else was lie down, get up, jump over bar and repeat. Time was 24:44. Man, I don't know if I can do it at 95#. At the '12' set my right leg was shaking before the thrusters lol. I will see how I feel but that was a rough one. Good luck on this one. Ooh boy.

Nice job. Yeah, this one can get long. Someone at our gym did it in 36+. Many vets are doing it anywhere from 15 to 20 min. Newbies (as in women who've lost 200#) are taking anywhere from 50 to 60 min, that's AWESOME.
Take your time, pace. Break up the thrusters early, don't gas on the burpees. It'll suck, no lie, but you'll finish. We all will. I go tomorrow at 11:30 or so. I'm shooting for 15 to 20 min. Anywhere in that range is a win.

Hit my goal with...19:57. Man, that was rough, but not horrible for me. Granted my calf seized at the round of 12 and I was glad to make it out alive. Wife did it around 22/23 min.
A younger woman was a beast and muscled through it w/ about 36 min. Awesome to watch the tenacity.
Bummed it's over but now I know the holes to work on. ENGINE.

Josh Bridges hit 7:49. Holy shit.
Jacinto Bonilla is 74 YO. Older than my parents, 27 years my senior. He's competing in the 60+ division because there is no 70+ division. He just put a time of 16:21. Damn. He really is my hero. Currently 11th in the world, 14 years older than the division age start.

Right under the 20 minute mark, nice job. I am still sore from the trial run on Friday. Worked out a bit Saturday morning to loosen my muscles up and then went for a jog afterwards and played basketball yesterday. Feel better but my neck and arms are still sore so I didn't risk it today. 95# thruster is OK but I think 84 reps is too much for me right now so I am going to play it safe.
For some reason I thought Jacinto was only 67. He really is inspiring.

I got 'caught' working out yesterday. Pulled 135# (total) on the sled for 1.15 miles yesterday for a time of 33:24. My mile mark was 28:13, a bit above my 20:00 target. networkedblogs.com/WDj7b

I saw that picture last night...nice. Last two weeks I've been pretty active but I have to admit, this week I hit a brick wall. So I got outside during my lunch hour for a little run. Weather was a bit windy, overcast where it was about to rain...so pretty much perfect for running. I got in a small 2+ mile run, at times it was sprinkling. Really nice weather today. I will also get after it tonight.

Hang power clean PR today of 185#. This time last year, I think my regular clean was barely 175#. My clean PR is currently 200#, I think I can pull 205# in a few weeks.
Today WOD
Run 800m
then 3 rounds of
12 OHS 95# 10 ring dips
8:38 RX
I had to do my ring dips in doubles by the 2nd round. If I could string them longer, I can save about a minute. OHS are pretty easy to me for some reason. I did the first round unbroken. Then the last 2 rounds in sets of 6.

205# Clean PR, 5# from last Oct.
WOD 5x 10 push presses 155/105 30 DUs
10:52 scaled to 135#. No way I could handle 155 50x after a clean ladder. DUs no prob though.
