I'm going to make this thread because I've found some cool things there lately that I've personally funded.
I'm a big espresso snob/geek. I buy boutique beans and have a special grinder. I've always been interested in PID control, even buying a machine that can be modded for a PID. But then I saw this and immediately backed it. The price of their machine is the cost of a PID controller.
This concept appeals to me because it has some aspect of home automation/security with the ease of email/twitter notifications. I've got other ideas in my head for this too.
AND because this a gamer board, I saw this. I'm in because the designer did Grim Fandango, one of my all time favorite games.

A gadget? Of course I backed another one... They really blew past their goal. Kickstarter on an iOS game: Unfortunately a little controversy came up because a lot of people didn't like that it was iOS only. It was later announced that PC/Mac would be added and they'd also add David Hayter and Jennifer Hale for voice work but it seems like it's too little too late:

I did the Ouya thing too.

I haven't pulled the trigger on any of this yet but both Oculus and Ouya are tempting for sure.

I've been very intrigued with the Ouya concept. Seems like it would be great, but man, I really don't see it coming together like they have envisioned it. All of this by March? I'm pulling for them, though.

I agree fatty. I think the concept is brilliant, but I'm just not interested in throwing $99 towards a console that may not be very good. I mean, what if the controller sucks? It looks fine, but who knows? If the thing gets some good solid games, then I'd be all over it. But for now I'm holding off until it becomes an established product.
Good for them though for trying something. They've already got 40k+ backers.

I would have backed the VR goggles if they needed the cash. But since they got the $$ they needed, I have decided to wait for the finished product and hope to all that is good in this world that console manufacturers are going to make this thing compatible. One of my friends said.. "Maybe you don't need to build that home theater now." And you know... at least for games, there's something to that comment. Sharing movies with the family and experiencing surround sound would not be helped by this. But it could be very cool for games.

I like this one too. Almost want to do it just cuz the guys are local to me.
UPDATE: Erase that. Seems that this is the same company that does Fanny Wang headphones. And Fanny Wang isn't a real person. Frankly, a 'real' company using Kickstarter to build/sell something just pisses me off.

I hear you, that would tick me off too. It's only a matter of time before a company like EA or Activision will try to pull something like that. --- So one of the things that I like to do is collect playing cards, basically just Bicycle brand to keep it somewhat under control. Well, I ended up buying a spectrum deck off of ebay a few days ago: Then I later learned it came about as a kickstarter project. Didn't even think about playing cards being started from kickstarter. But now I'm finding myself browsing kickstarter even more because of this...oh oh.

Hrmm... interesting. So the shows are recorded on the Ouya or it stream them from another PC like the xbox 360.

I believe there's flexibility in that you can stream it from another device (NAS) or off the cloud. I could be wrong as I don't use either.

It'd be interesting to know what file formats it supports. If it supports wtv that would be interesting.

Plex is a media server with various clients. Yes, XBMC-based IIRC. I run the server on my Mac, works on Linux/Windows too. Then I have Plex clients installed on my iPhone 4, iPad, and Roku. The GUI is FANTASTIC. The server scans the file name and finds all the meta data online and shows them on the GUI. Plex is HIGHLY recommended, def worth the $4 I paid for the client apps. You can even stream outside your house to your client devices, including 3G. I've streamed to my iphone many times. The server is free and they also have desktop clients. www.plexapp.com/I don't know the WTV format but it does MKV very well, though it helps to have wired connections. UPDATE: According to this thread, Plex can handle WTV. forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/23536-wtv-file-support/page__hl__wtv__st__20

Very interesting. I will tuck this into some corner of my brain should I need some new approach to media streaming in the future.
