Finished the story mode of Defense Grid 2 and now I'm wrapping up the platinum. How was Defense Grid 2? I liked the first one on 360.

I beat Steam World Dig 2 nights ago.Fun game! Great free title for PS4. Very simple and mindless while feeling addictive and giving you the metroid-esque leveling/exploration feel in some respects as well. Fun times!

I'm sad to say I've become addicted to this Star Wars trading card app. It's consumed much of my free time that would normally go towards gaming. Hopefully I'll get back to gaming soon. I have a trip to Japan tomorrow so hopefully I'll get some 3DS time during the plane ride.

I've been sidetracked in my backlog progress as well, but it's all due to Mario Kart. I'm trying to unlock the gold kart in MK7 which requires 10,000 online ranking (you start at 1000) so that's taking a while. Then most of my other gaming time is used up playing MK8 with my daughter ... it really is a fun, addictive game. I've gotten so hooked on Mario Kart I've gone back to MK Wii to try to get 3 stars on everything (I already did on MK7 and MK8, although 8 is way easier than the others since you only have to finish in first). I tried going way back to Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA) but the controls are terrible (IMO) and very similar to the original Super Mario Kart (which I can't stand).
Re: MK Wii, I figured out how to hook up the homebrew server to allow me to continue playing online now that the official servers are gone. It works great, but you have to have at least the Homebrew channel on your Wii.

I beat Never Alone for PS4 this weekend. Overall, it was barely worth the money I paid for it, which was $0. It was filled with places where you had to die in order to see what was going to happen, then repeat that section and try not to die next time. The good thing about it was the couch co-op. My 5 year old daughter enjoyed controlling the 2nd character and there were a lot of non-threatening parts of the game that she just loved playing with me. So, that's what kept me in it until nearly the end. It got more challenging at the end and my son played the 2nd character for the last 30 mins or so.
Overall, I'd give it a C as it didn't really bring much to the table. But heck it was free.

I beat Last of Us on PS4 this weekend. Loved it all over again. I beat this originally on PS3 and thought it was one of the best games I've ever played. I still think so. The story line, acting, character interaction, environments... all top notch. It is starting to show its age a little but that has very little impact given the upgrade to the PS4. there are a few parts that are more difficult and I got stuck a couple times. But overall, the difficulty and fun factor remains constant. The game constantly drags you along a fun story arc and keep you interested in new locations and characters. Overall fantastic.
Now I am just trying to decide if I go through the DLC mission or not.

Once I thought stuff was going to start popping out at me, I had enough and haven't been back to it (yet.)

I finished the swan! Beat a game called unfinished swan on PS4. Falls into the same category as most free digital games on that system. Short. Kind of fun. Nothing mind blowing. It killed some time with the kids.

Completed Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move. My least favorite of the M vs DK games, but I'm looking forward to Tipping Stars as it looks like a return to the original game style.

Speaking of short games, finished Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure. There were 50 total individual challenges and I completed them all in a day. Will probably try some online play at some point.

My reverse-order Mario Kart-fest continues. Completed Mario Kart: Double Dash!! tonight, finished unlocking everything.
This was one of my more enjoyable MK games since my daughter and I basically co-op'ed the whole game. She likes using items and my driving ability was required for 150cc and above, so it worked out really well. Mirror mode on this game was very difficult. I know it's unlikely, but I'd love to see them add a 2-player co-op driving mode to MK8 as a DLC feature like 200cc. I know not everyone is a fan of Double Dash, but it was a pretty unique twist and fun when you have a less-experienced player.

Completed BOXBOY! and Dooors for 3DS. Boxboy was actually really fun for me, quite entertaining. Dooors was also a good puzzle game but way too short (2 hours).
