I've never played the original Metroid 2 on Gameboy but this looks fantastic! Shame on me but I still also need to play Metroid Zero Mission And Metroid Fusion as well. Wow that game looks good.

I'll be sure to give it a try at some point. I've also been waiting for the full Metroid 1 hack here. It's been built from the ground up and is very close to release. Good times on the Metroid homebrew scene!

I never played metroid 1, 2, or super metroid, but I've played the rest as far as I know (save for other m which I started and never finished).
Metroid prime 1,2, and 3 Fusion Zero mission Prime hunters Metroid pinball
I thought zero mission was just a remake of metroid 1 which is why I never bothered with if. I have no excuse with super metroid other than starting but again not finishing and being reluctant to go back and start over again, which I will be doing sometime soon.

The original Metroid is substantially different from Zero Mission. The original Metroid is a good game to play if only due to its classic standing. Ideally Metroid is played prior to Zero Mission since it's based on the same planet, but it doesn't matter that much. Be aware that it's a pretty hard game. Metroid 2: you can skip unless you really want to play it. It's worse than all the other games except maybe Other M. Better yet, play the remake mentioned above. As far as Super Metroid: dude! It's one of the best games of all time! Get on that post haste! (If you've played Metroid Pinball you can make time for Super Metroid.) ) All this talk reminds me: I need to play through all the Metroid games again - it's been awhile!

I think the remake may have improved the game but I did not read the details fo what changes were made beyond the obvious look and sound.

I am on it. Just wrapping up a couple other games first before taking that one on. But it will be completed in 2016 for sure.

What do you need to play Metroid 2? Is it windows only? Can I play on my Mac?

Windows only at present. A linux build is forthcoming, but no news about Mac - sorry.

Well, I DID grab this before it went down. Nintendo only knows how to block new, fun content, not produce it.

Me too, I knew how Nintendo can be.
Playing through Zero Mission and I can't believe I waited this long. Plays very much like Super Metroid. This game is great! After I finish it I want to go back and see how similar this is to the original, which I have just barely played.

How are you playing GBA games? You have a GBA? Or you downloaded it to your 3DS? Ooh wait, it seems my DS Lite might play it. Hrm... guess I'll look around and see if I have one in good condition still or if the kids smashed em all up. It also may be cheaper to just download it on the 3DS than it is to buy a GBA cart I guess.
Or did you get the rom and play thru an emulator. Man, I may have done that... can't remember if I've played this one I think I have actually.

If you guys need DS compatible emulator cartridges, let me know. I have a few R4 cards laying around that are not compatible w/ my 3DS.
Gratis.

Yeah, besides my DS Two flashcart (which runs better on the DS Lite than 3DS IMO) I kept my DS Lite for the few GBA games I still have.

Isn't zero mission on Wii u virtual console?

I think so. I don't buy any portable games on the Wii U virtual console on principle. I'd buy on 3DS VC, but not releasing portable games on the portable console is ridiculous.
