Nice! It's a great feeling to finish a game that difficult, congrats. It was a fantastic feeling. My hands were shaking by the end as I was still in disbelief I got through that last challenge. Another couple games to the completed list: 1) Shadow of the Colossus for PS4. This will be the 3rd time I've played this game. I played it when it originally launched on the PS2. I played it again when they did an HD upses version for the PS3. And now I've played the Remake for PS4 with brand new graphics. The PS4 version is the definitive version of this game. The graphics in the game are gorgeous and the fur of a colossus and grass and such all swaying in the wind just look amazing. The game itself is relatively short, coming in at around 6 hours. It's literally a game with nothing but boss fights. 16 in all. The story is intriguing as it opens with a warrior who carries in the body of a girl with him into some strange temple. The warrior makes a deal with the god of that temple (Dormin) to kill the 16 colossi in exchange to bring the girl back to life. I won't go into more detail than that, but the story is both artsy and interesting. Each colossi is unique and requires a different approach to defeating them. My biggest gripe with the game is getting to each colossus. The game asks that you hold your sword up in the sunlight and light will reflect off the sword showing you the direction you need to go. This is all well and good, but the game world is fairly spread out and I would often find myself getting to a dead end, needing to go back and find another path to the direction I was supposed to go. It's a minor gripe, but one I wanted to point out. Other than that though, the graphics, the music, the story, all were top notch. If you've never played this game, I highly recommend you snag it if you have a PS4. I've seen it marked down to $20. If you already played it on PS2 or PS3, I still recommend playing the PS4 version as it's a really nice upgrade in visuals. 9/10 2) Steamworld Dig for PS Vita. This game has been on my list for some time and Fatty inspired me to start it. Overall this was a solid metroidvania type game. My biggest gripe with this game was I really wanted it to give me more direction. It does tell you where you first need to go, but then it will tell you to "explore more of the cave." The game has you digging and digging around, collecting gems/gold along the way, which you exchange for money, which you can then use to buy upgraded tools, allowing you to keep digging deeper into the mine. It's not a bad concept, but I felt it got a bit long in the tooth when you got deeper into the mine and then had to make your way back up as you were full on gems/gold/etc. You could buy a transporter if you wanted, but then it meant you were sacrificing currency to buy that instead of other useful items. Regardless, there's no real bosses in the game until the end, so you basically keep making your way deeper and deeper into the mine, getting upgrades along the way, until you finally reach the final boss. I liked the game overall, but do wish it gave more direction on where to go and made it easier to get back to the surface rather than asking me to spend money on buying a warp point. The game definitely leaves room for a sequel, which I hear Steamworld 2 is outstanding, so I am looking forward to playing game. I give Steamworld Dig a 7/10.

I have been wanting to play Shadow of the Colossus for a while, seeing that it is a short game I will have to play it soon. Six hours isn’t too bad at all.
For Steamworld Dig, I kind of liked that open ended direction, but I definitely see your point. The sequel improves in this area by highlighting the spot in the map you need to go to next. The transporter issue is solved as well. There are more boss fights, too, but not a whole bunch of them. Pretty much everything is improved in some way in the sequel.
Myself, I have been cranking away at Picross 3D on NDS (that game is packed full of value with so many puzzles) and Picross 3D round 2 on the 3ds. If I complete either of this games it will be a big accomplishment.

I do wish they'd release more regular Picross - it's been a while. It seems they've stopped making more Picross 'e' games on the 3DS, which is too bad.

Night in the Woods Switch. I did not expect such a melancholy story. Have to admit, the ending/epilogue was abrupt in an unsatisfying way. Still, great effort for an indie.
BTW, I've been trying to finish Golf Story for MONTHS. The final 'boss battle' is winning the last 9 hole tournament, with quite a few island holes. You can't win w/o a par on every hole. Dang near impossible...

Resumed my Metroid series playthrough AND started back up on Zelda again, inspired by the Switch Online catalog. Goal on Metroid is to finally complete all the unlockables in MP:Trilogy. So close, just need one enemy scan and beating MP3 on Hypermode. So ...
1) Finished Metroid Prime 1 (Trilogy version) on Hypermode difficulty, 100% items. 2) Finished Legend of Zelda (NES) - Quest 1, all items collected 3) Finished Legend of Zelda (NES) - Quest 2, all items collected
Not sure if each quest should be counted as a separate game, I think probably but I'm fine either way.

Nice job with Metroid! Man, I really need to go back and play those games again. I loved them all.
I recently have been giving some love to my PS Vita again. Finished a cool shump called Soldner X 2: Final Prototype. Very cool game that not only has a story mode, but a challenge mode as well for things like collecting 999 rings by the end of a level or going 3 stages without dying, etc. The story mode starts out with 5 missions, but there are 4 more missions you can unlock as there are secret keys hidden across various stages. Most of the time, a key is in a bad guy you shoot, but some of the them are hidden pretty well. One in particular I could not find until I eventually found out that you had to be at level C or higher in order for it to appear.
Overall though, I really enjoyed this game. It can be hard, but you can tone down the difficulty where it's not insanely hard but still gives a good challenge. If you like shmups, check this one out. I believe it's also on the PS3. 8/10

Just finished my first Metroid Prime Randomizer playthrough. I have to say, it was pretty fun! I'll probably be doing it again. Ended up having a few softlocks (trapped in a room without the upgrade to leave), but they were really my fault as I'm not as familiar with MP as I should be. Also had a fun fight against the Omega Pirate with not nearly enough firepower. Still, finished at 79% and 8:00 even which I'm pretty happy with. Sadly, I could have saved a lot of time and deaths by skipping the whole Omega Pirate section of the map since there ended up being nothing essential there. It was a good learning experience though. Also, the randomizer has a lot of custom settings that you can play around with, including glitches (which I did NOT select as I like the standard move set). Oh, I should also mention: this is an edit of the GameCube version ... it took a while to get reacquainted with the GC control scheme after playing the Wii version so much. It's clearly inferior, but it does have one advantage: comfort!

Finished another Metroid Prime Randomizer run. I'm getting better - this time had 89% items and 5:30 final time. Next time I may give Hard mode a shot.

Finished Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the PS Vita. This is a game I've been wanting to play for a while and finally decided to do so. I'm a fan of the Uncharted series and save for Uncharted Lost Legacy, I've played all the other games now. Golden Abyss is definitely the weakest of those games. The controls on the Vita are fine, but they tried really hard to integrate all the various features of the Vita into the game, be it the touch screen, the rear touch pad, or even the cameras. I appreciate them trying something new, but most of these things just don't feel natural in an Uncharted game.
The big turn off for me was the gun fighting elements. There is just SO MUCH gun fighting in this game, more so than exploration or puzzle solving or anything. I mean, by the time you're done with the game, you've killed well over 200 people. Now, I don't know about you, but even if I'm trying to survive, killing 200+ people would still cause me some unrest. Not Nathan Drake though....he's cracking jokes throughout the entire thing. I know it's just a game and it's fine, but I wish they could come up with some other way to keep Uncharted engaging besides coming across more troops you need to take out that are in your way.
Which reminds me of another thing the Uncharted series is guilty of. As you progress in the game and ultimately solve puzzles and open up doors that haven't been opened for centuries, you make your way deeper into the area only to discover there's a ton of troops that brought all this equipment in with them to stand in your way? How did they get all that stuff into these places and how did they get so far ahead of you when you were first to get there? Stuff like that just doesn't add up to me.
Anyway, it was an ok story (not as good as 2, 3, or 4 IMO) with solid graphics and voice acting, ok controls/gameplay. I will say this, the Vita was far ahead of it's time. Playing a game on there today and I'm amazed this handheld is almost 8 years old. It still is spitting out console quality graphics, far longer than the Switch has been.
If you like the Uncharted series, Golden Abyss is certainly not a bad game, but IMO it's a mediocre Uncharted game. I also encountered a game breaking bug a few times that forced me to reboot the game in order move forward. 7/10

One more Metroid Prime Randomizer finished, this time on Hard mode. 85% in 6:13. Final boss combo is no joke on Hard mode. Died the first time (only death in the game though). Should have been faster, but I wasted a bunch of time in this playthrough. Will probably take a break from the randomizer and continue the Metroid series.

I’ve been leaning on playing Picross a little too much, trying to get a perfect score for each board is taking too long so I will probably take a break, or at least get some other gaming in.

Finished Metroid Fusion. Not my favorite due to the extreme final boss difficulty. Also, got the worst ending despite being extremely familiar with Metroid games ... anything over 4 hours is considered 'slow'. OK.

I completed Diablo 3 on Switch. I did campaign, adventure mode, and even some rifts, so I feel I got my money's worth from this game. This is my first Diablo game ever so I really didn't know what to expect other than it being a dungeon crawler. But I've been wanting to see what all the fuss was about so am happy to finally have played through one. I will say, while I can see the appeal in these types of games, they tend to be very repetitive for my taste. The story was interesting enough but the game was just a big grind in terms of killing everything, gathering loot, making yourself stronger, so you can kill more things and get more loot. I will say, the game is FAR more enjoyable as a multiplayer game than as a single player one. I was getting pretty bored by Act 2 going through the game solo, but by Act 3 a friend and I started playing together and it became a lot more fun.
I can see myself going back to this from time to time but for now I think I'm ready to move onto something else. I would give Diablo an 8.5/10

One more Metroid Prime Randomizer completed back on normal mode, 92% 5:16.
Forgot one: Mario Pinball Land (GBA). This was ... not the greatest game. I'm not going to try completing this game, just beat the final boss. Very frustrating game since anytime the ball falls through the current screen you lose all progress, which is especially bad on bosses. Anyway, I finally finished it and don't think I'll return to it.

I beat the second one (long after it came out) and started the third but only made it a couple of acts in on Xbox One. Picked it up again on the cheap for the Switch during Black Friday and I’m getting ready to start a play through. I have a trip next week so I plan on playing this instead of Picross. What race did you play?

Looked back on here at when I played Diablo II, it was way back in 2008, wow. For Diablo III, I decided on playing as a female Wizard and got to level 4, but my biggest accomplishment was pimping out my banner with a cool sigil and a nice blue background with white highlights.
Like you said dschroll, this game can be very repetitive and with a lot of grinding. I don’t normally gravitate towards these type of games but every once in a while in can be nice seeing your character get very powerful and enjoy the the sense of satisfaction of clearing a room of enemies in a wake of destruction. Back in D2 I tried playing with some people online who were veterans and they would do speed runs where it was hard for me to keep up and I really didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the game at my own pace. But for them they would repeatedly play the levels hoping to get very rare drops of loot. Different strokes for different folks but that is definitely not for me.

Finished Inside on Switch. I had my eye on this for a while and it was on sale the other week.
I REALLY like the puzzle/platforming, VERY clever considering you have 2 buttons, activate and jump. Definitely had to resort to YouTube when I got stuck and really couldn't figure it out. The death scenes are pretty gruesome when you think about it but I think it adds to the 'charm'. And that ending is ODD. Definitely one of my recent favorites.

My daughter helped me build and name the character and then pretty much lost interest in the game when it was not stop hacking and slashing. I made it up to level 70 in the game by the time I finished the campaign and then I did adventure mode to collect a bunch of bounties and I've also done a handful of rifts. I get how this game is appealing and such, but as a single player game I got bored quickly. As an online multiplayer game, I had a lot of fun, although it was fairly easy so I kept having to increase the difficulty. I think by the time I finished the campaign I had the difficulty set on Torment Level 1. With adventure mode and the rifts I was up to Torment Level 3. Everything looks and plays great on Switch, so no technical issues at all. Might go back and play every now and then, but for the most part I'm ready to move on. Just trying to find other online multiplayer games to play. Anyone have any recommendations?

I haven't played Limbo, but it has been on my 'to play' list...didn't even know about Inside. I know that Limbo had some gruesome death scenes as well, with a similar type of art style. Yeah, I feel pretty much the same as you concerning Diablo. I beat the second one (long after it came out) and started the third but only made it a couple of acts in on Xbox One. Need to give it a shot to see if one of the kids wants to play with me. Unfortunately, I am not a good person to recommend online multiplayer games as the only one I liked to play (used to play ALL THE TIME) was Starcraft II, still want to get around to playing the final expansion. Destiny seemed to get a lot of love, I think Nothru was also a big fan as well.

TBH, I remember playing Limbo but I forget what platform. As such, I can't remember whether I bought it and where. So now I can't find it. GRRR.
Limbo art style is a bit hazier than Inside, as such, it may not feel as gruesome. Inside is definitely gruesome, but not like the new Resident Evil.
UPDATE: Found Limbo on my Steam account. Definitely going to go back and play it now. FMU, it's not as polished as Inside but doesn't matter to me.
