Oooh! I loved Gone Home, so I will add this to my list. Thanks oldskool.
I just finished Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. All I can say is WOW. This game is outstanding. The story takes place around a celtic girl who comes back to her village after the vikings had raided it and discovered her bo was killed and sacrificed to the norse gods. She takes his head on a journey to Hellheim to bargain for his soul. The storyi deals heavy with the subject of mental illness in a very clever way (play this game with headphones). It teaches you some Norse mythology. The graphics and voice acting are outstanding. The gameplay, while fun, can get a bit repetitive. Overall though, this game just blew me away. It is not a game for kids though, so play this one solo when they've gone to bed. Highly recommended. 9/10.

Never heard of Hellblade, now it's on my Gamefly list. Ha, don't you and I wish Eternal Darkness was remade...
If you love Gone Home and Firewatch, Edith Fitch is MUCH better. The story is better IMHO but doesn't answer everything for you, which can be frustrating but I like that it's then up to your imagination.

Finished a couple more games on Switch:
1) Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. This is an older 2003 game that was released on Gamecube, PS2, and XBOX and they ported and upconverted it to Switch. I believe it's Switch exclusive at the moment. Anyway, this is actually a pretty solid action platformer game. It's very colorful, graphics hold up well overall, but are a bit dated somewhat. The gameplay, while solid, is also a bit dated and you have save spots throughout the game (DON'T FORGET TO SAVE) and the story is cute enough. If you like old school action platformer games, this one is definitely worth a look. Takes about 17 hours to finish. I did come across an audio bug in the game where a sound would repeat over and over again, but it would go away with a reboot. There were also a couple of times that I wasn't quite clear on what to do next and ultimately had to wander around and talk to enough people to finally get a clue. Overall though, I enjoyed this one. 8/10.
2) Bro Force. This is an 8 bit blocky looking guy that pays homage to 80's 90s action movies and characters. You're working for the USA trying to "liberate" essentially every other nation from terrorists (and eventually aliens). You are randomly assigned a "bro" to play as, which is honestly the most entertaining aspect of this game. You can be RamBRO or RoBRO cop or BROnan the Barbarian and many many more. Each character has unique weapons and special abilities and it's all very entertaining. This one is best enjoyed with your friends or "bros". Can be played locally or online, although I found the online to be a bit glitchy every now and then. Still, very enjoyable game overall if you're into mindlessly going through and killing everything on screen. 7.5 / 10

Finished 3 more games.
1) Wild Guns Reloaded for Switch. This is an SNES style shooting game where your character is in the foreground and you run back and forth shooting stuff in the background. The graphics and sound perfectly recreate that 16 bit style. The controls/gameplay however, make this game extremely difficult. You move your character with the left stick or D pad. The onscreen reticule is used with the same left stock or D pad. So, your moving your character and aiming with the same stick. This makes the game extremely challenging for me because I'll often by wanting to run one way while shooting the other, but it's near impossible to do. Additionally, I'll want to stay in one area, while moving the reticule elsewhere to shoot, but again, cannot do that because as soon as you move that Left stock to aim, your character starts running in that direction. If that weren't difficult enough, the game has 1 hit kills, and only gives you 4 lives.....on EASY mode. There are supposedly 8 stages in the game, but 2 of these stages can only be seen while playing in the Normal and Hard difficulties. Essentially, the game has 8 levels, with each level having 3 stages. As long as you can complete one level with the 4 guys you have, you can keep continuing to try your hand at another level. But if you lose all 4 lives before the level is done, you go back to trying that level from stage 1 again. Suffice it to say, I suck at this game and just didn't have the patience to play it endlessly in order to complete each level with 4 guys. So, I switched to "beginner" mode which gives you infinite lives and completely removes the challenge from this game. Unfortunately that also means I will not be able to see 2 of the stages on this game since they can only be seen on harder difficulties. Overall, while I love the graphics and style of this game, the controls and difficulty make it way too challenging so I wasn't able to enjoy it to the level I would have preferred. 6.5 / 10.
2) Gone Home for Switch. I've played this game already once on the PS4. This is a great game, but one I didn't quite enjoy as much on the second play through as I did on the PS4. Perhaps it's because I knew how things played out, or I just realized certain things the second time that I may not have noticed the first time. This is still a fantastic game if you have not experienced it. It's very much a "myst" style game where you play as this girl who has been traveling in Europe for months and comes home to an empty house. You start going through things in each room, uncovering journal entries left by your sister and you're slowly piecing together what's been going on at home while you've been away. It's a very touching story and the voice acting is excellent. But it's a very different type of game in that you're completely alone in this house and ultimately just interacting with different objects. If you're ok with that, check this game out. If not, you probably won't care for it. It's a short game and can be completed in roughly 3-4 hours, depending on how dedicated you are into finding all the journal entries. 9/10
3) DoDonPaci for Sega Saturn. This is a vertical shmup on the Saturn. The game is a bullet hell shooter. You can choose from 3 different ships each having unique weapons. I love old school shooters like this, but I'm by no means good at them. This is one of those cases where you just keep playing adding more credits to the game until you beat it. Yeah, it's not very challenging when doing that, but I do try hard to stay alive for as long as possible. The one area that I didn't care for with this game is that when you upgrade your weapons enough, it covers a huge chunk of the screen. Which means while you're shooting a barrage of bullets at the enemy, you can't see the bullets they're shooting at you, and you'll often die not knowing what just hit you. Still, if you like schmups, this one is worth a look. 7/10.

I love schmups but prefer the ones like Gradius, Super Aleste and Aexelay compared to the bullet hell shooters. I also don’t have the patience to learn how to get good at those and would do the same as you by adding credits to get through it.

yep, I went deep into retro gaming these past few years and made a point to get a lot of retro systems(NES, SNES, TG-16, Saturn, PS1, N64, Dreamast) and everdrives or mods to essentially have every game for them. Saturn is definitely a personal favorite as I wanted one back in the day, but being a poor gamer had to decide between that and a PS1. Playstation was cheaper and looked better, so that's the direction I went. But deep down I still wanted that Saturn. Fast forward to today and I have a Saturn modded with an ODE and an SD card that has roughly 100 games on it so I can play Saturn games on actual hardware. All hooked up to an old school CRT in RGB.
I'm with you fatty, I love shooters, but don't have the patience, so just play through them with infinite lives. Doesn't seem like it would be fun, but it totally is. Just love the graphics and sound and design :-)
On another note, I started last year on my bday playing Spiderman for PS4. It was great and I loved that game. A year later and it's my birthday and I finished all 3 DLC packs for that game (The Heist, Turf War, and Silver Lining). Each DLC pack was roughly 3-4 hours to 100% everything and get all the trophies. If you haven't played Spiderman and enjoy games like the Batman Arkham games, you will absolutely love Spiderman. Insomniac hit this one out of the park, which is why it's the highest selling PS4 game and Sony just recently acquired Insomniac.
All 3 DLCs were extra story missions along with extra crime, challenge, and base missions. Each story went right into the next, so they were all part of a larger narrative. Overall, the DLC was absolutely fantastic, with the last one (Silver Lining) being my personal favorite. This one wrapped everything nicely and just had some of the best Spiderman gags/jokes of the game. I am sometimes weary of DLC being announced right when a game releases, like this was done for Spiderman, but this DLC was well thought out and really just extended my time with the game, something I was very happy to do. If you play Spiderman and like it, definitely snag this DLC as it was well worth it.
The Heist - 7.5/10 Turn War - 8/10 Silver Lining - 9/10

OK, just crossed a big one off my list: Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild ... in MASTER MODE!! That difficulty is no joke man. I actually died on my first final boss attempt, but powered up a bit more and then had no problem. It was my first revisiting of this game since it first came out and I played in on the Wii U ... this was my first try on the Switch. Seemed to run smoother, but otherwise it's the same. My next goal, which is admittedly pretty lofty, will be to finish EVERYTHING in Breath of the Wild (normal mode, not master) including all side quests, Koroks, etc. I still love playing the game, so maybe that will get me sick of it. ;-) I'm guessing I'll be working on it for quite a while! Really looking forward to the recently-announced sequel.

Oh, one more: beat Catan on Switch; finished all campaign levels on highest difficulty. Big Settlers of Catan fan, so it was fun to give it a try even if just against AI. It was good practice for playing against real people!

I need to give Spider-Man a try. I got a little burnt out on the series with Spider-Man 3 and both of the Amazing Spider-Man movies. I actually have Homecoming and the animated movie but still haven’t watched them yet... :/
I do have the game and will play it at some point just not sure when. Though I have been getting back into gaming again which is good, been replaying Final Fantasy IV on Vita and playing a lot of chess online against people with the chess.com app. I’m not that good but love it and it is great to see I am finally starting to improve.

Finished Story Mode in Super Mario Maker 2 (Switch), including unlocking and finishing all 120 levels. The last level takes 10,000 coins to unlock so ... there was some grinding involved. Maybe one of these days I'll actually create a level...
Also finished another Metroid Prime Randomizer run.

One more (I've been sick): Zelda II Adventure of Link (NES). My long-term goal is to 'complete' all the Zelda games, which I've never personally done. The hardest ones, I think, will be Wind Waker (lots of figurines to collect) and Breath of the Wild (for obvious reasons).

Nelly Cootalot Spoonbeaks Ahoy. Point and click adventure on Steam that I got free at PAX from one of the devs after chatting him up and telling him that I loved Point and Click.
Played on Steam OSX. Controls leave a lot to be desired, I had to resort to use a real mouse for the right clicks. Decent game, not that long.

Welp, I finally beat Super Meat Boy on the Switch. This is close to the hardest (if not THE hardest) game I've ever beaten. I've heard the phrase "tough-as-nails platformer" before, but hadn't really experienced it at this level (except perhaps Super Mario Bros Lost Levels). Anyway, I beat the game but will absolutely NOT be completing this game. I think I probably COULD if I spent enough time, but the repetition of doing levels over and over until your muscle memory takes over is simply not a fun challenge for me. Many of the levels were hard but fair, but a few toward the end were over the top on difficulty. Because of the insane difficulty I'd have to give this around a 7/10 even though most of the game deserved a higher grade. Also, the cut scenes were hilarious.

I've always stayed away from Super Meat Boy due to its difficulty. Glad to hear it's enjoyable, but I think that's one game I wouldn't enjoy much.
I finished these games a couple months ago, but forgot to post about them.
1) Rive (Switch) - this is a platformer/shooter game that takes place inside some kind of spaceship. It's a dual stick style shooter where you drive around in a mini tank like device that has 4 legs. You platform through various areas, shoot baddies, and solve some puzzles to open doorways to next areas. As you go through levels, you unlock new abilities/weapons to help you navigate the next areas. Overall, this game is fantastic. However, there are a couple of scenes that really had me swearing up a storm (more than usual anyway). These are typically chase sequences where you have a room flooding with lava and you have to move up faster than the lava. Normally these types of situations don't bother me, but because this is a dual stick designed game, the jump button is the ZR button. Using a trigger button for intense platforming just doesn't provide that precision and comfort you get when using the face buttons. Suffice it to say, I died a lot during this section. Fortunately there were frequent check points. The game took me like 6 or so hours to complete. Solid game overall. 8/10
2) The Messenger (Switch) - This is a retro style game designed to look and play like Ninja Gaiden. I don't want to say anything about the story in this game as the writing is really funny and enjoyable. You play as a Ninja and progress your way through various levels to fight the boss. As you progress through the game, you collect little tokens that allow you to upgrade and unlock certain abilities. The main attraction to this game is that it starts out looking like an 8 bit Ninja Garden game. About a quarter to a third of the way through, it gets a visual upgrade to a 16 bit style Ninja Gaiden game and becomes more of a Metroidvania at that point. The controls, the graphics, the music, the writing, all really solid. My biggest issue with this game is the backtracking. There is a TON of it. I know you typically have this with Metroidvanias, but this one really took it to en extreme. Keep in mind, I wanted to complete everything in this game, so I went after every collectible. Overall it took me about 21 hours to beat this game. Great great game overall, but it honestly lasted about 5 hours longer than it needed to IMO. If you like retro style games and enjoy some funny writing, this game is a solid bet. There is some free DLC for this game I have not played yet. Definitely will chime back in on it when I do. But for the main game, I would give it an 8.5/10

Untitled Goose Game on Switch. Very cool game, my only complaint is that it's a bit short.
