Finished Run The Fan for Switch. Short, but enjoyable, puzzle game.

Apple Arcade games done:
Pilgrims: Fun game by the makers of Machinarium. Down in Bermda: Fun, slow paced puzzle game, a bit short though Assemble with Care: Cool book/adventure game concept. Not very hard, relaxing. Tangle Tower: GREAT voice acting and writing. This alone would be worth the Apple Arcade fee. Don't bother on Switch. Do an Apple trial and play this for free.
I've played a few others on Arcade. Some are terrible, some are boring, some REALLY need a controller to play. Definitely hit or miss, but for $5/mo, worth it for me for puzzle games.

Been a while since I've posted some of my completed games, so wanted to update you on what I've finished over the past couple months.
1) Ghostbusters: The Videogame Remastered(Switch): This was a port of the 2009 game that came out on XBOX 360 and PS3. I played it back then and remember not loving it, but wanted to try it again on the Switch. I played the game through it's entirety and my memory on this game was pretty accurate. The game's story essentially takes place after the events of Ghostbusters 2 and you come on as "the rookie" to play as the 5th ghostbuster. The story was written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis and all of the original cast is there to voice their characters. The delivery of those lines isn't always great, but overall the story is decent and the game has some funny writing at times. The game also does a good job of introducing some new equipment that you, the rookie, aka the guinea pig, gets to test out to deal with the increasing challenges of the ghosts as you make your way closer to the big bad. The gameplay is where this game tends to fall a bit short, mainly because the other ghostbusters suck. As you play through the game, more often than not, you're teamed up with the other ghostbusters and are working together. If they could pull their own weight then it might be more fun, but they can't and invitebly fall, asking for "a little help." You can resurrect fallen ghostbusters and they can you, but you'll be doing most of the resurrecting. If you do fall, they will most likely die trying to get you, which just further ticks you off when you've rescued them like 20 times and then you die once only to have none of them be able to get to you. This is generally a problem in small areas where there are a lot of ghosts. It's the biggest flaw in the entire game. So, I guess when they mean "Remastered" in the title, it just means the graphics were upres'd and that's it. Because nothing else about this game feels updated and it very much feels and plays like a 2009 game. It's too bad because a full blown remake really could've made this game great. But as it is, I would say it's a 6.5/10.
2) The Last Guardian (PS4): This is the long awaited game made by the makers of the critically acclaimed games Ico along with Shadow of the Colossus. The Last Guardian has you play as a young boy who wakes up in a cave with a bird dog type animal called Trico. As you befriend Trico, you and he (I think it's a he) work together to solve puzzles and get from one area to the next. Ultimately you're trying to get to a certain area as that's your escape but you have a long ways to go so you have to go from room to room or area to area. Along the way you will start to learn various "commands" you can give to Trico to get him to do what you want to do, but whether Trico actually does the is another story. That's the biggest hinderance with this game is that sometimes Trico takes forever to do what you need him to do, no matter how many times you bark the commands at him. By no means is this game bad. It's actually quite enjoyable and Trico becomes a companion you grow to care about throughout your journey. But there were a handful of puzzles that I just wasn't able to solve on my own and needed to look up, one of which turned out to be a glitch, so I have no regrets looking up that one. The story is interesting, albeit somewhat cryptic like this studio is known for. The ending was very solid and satisfying. Overall I really enjoyed this game, but that being said, it is the weakest of the games from this studio, mainly because of the difficulties in working with Trico to solve these puzzles. This one gets an 8/10.
3) Luigi's Mansion 3 (Switch): This had to be my most anticipated game for 2019. I've been so excited for this game as I've enjoyed the previous entries in this series. And this new game doesn't disappoint. This is THE BEST ghostbusters game on the market IMO. It puts the actual ghostbusters game to shame. Since it's so new I won't go into spoiler territory, but Luigi has to explore a hotel with 15 floors to eventually rescue his captured friends. Nintendo's writing is on point with this game as they make little Nintendo references that make you chuckle. The gameplay is outstanding as you use your poltergust to suck up anything and everything including ghosts. Nintendo added some new mechanics to this game such as the ability to slam ghosts and to use a plunger to grab ahold of items. Additionally, there's the addition of Gooigi to add to the puzzle solving element or to play co op with someone. Sadly I didn't get a chance to play co op as my daughter wasn't all that interested, so this was purely a solo adventure for me. Each floor of the hotel has a different theme and a boss. Some are better than others, but I really appreciated the variety. Additionally, you have various collectibles in the game such as gems and boos and rare ghosts. For those that are completionists, just know that the reward you get for collecting all of these things is purely bling and no "best ending" or anything like that. I still got them, but to each his own. Overall though this is the best game in the Luigi's Mansion series and a must play for any Switch owner. I did run into a couple of glitches in this game, but nothing that impacted my enjoyment. I give this one a 9/10.

Finished Zen Chess on Switch. Collection of mate-in-N games (where N = 1 to 4 moves) and I enjoyed it, especially for the low price of $0.99.

Finally completed The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening at 100% (all seashells, heart containers, upgrades, and - most tediously - Dampe dungeon trials). I stand by my previous evaluation that this is just a pretty good game. The additions did nothing for me, but the base game stands up well with the refreshed graphics. 9/10 for the original, 7/10 for this remake.

I'm making my way through after a short stoppage (cuz bosses) and I'm at the Wind Fish dungeon. I'm AWFUL at bosses so I'm liking that these aren't too hard. I have to admit I have to consult a walkthrough every once in a while since sometimes I can't remember what was previously said so I don't recall where I should go next. I would argue that 'what/where to do/go next' is a bit obtuse for someone that didn't play the original. But your 9/10 might mean I have to go back and play it.

Well, keep in mind my 9/10 was a contemporary score as of its original release date ... I think the lack of direction would still be a problem with the original. (I got stuck for a while on the remake even having played it before.) I docked the new version because I just don't think the graphical upgrade was sufficient. Yeah, it looked way cooler than the original, but it really SHOULD have fixed up some of the minor issues like knowing what to do next. That, and I did not enjoy the actual additions to the game.

Finished Zen Chess on Switch. Collection of mate-in-N games (where N = 1 to 4 moves) and I enjoyed it, especially for the low price of $0.99. Will have to pick that up for the Switch. My most played thing right now is The chess.com app on my iPad. I love being able to quickly a game against someone online and try to improve my rating. I’m only about 1020 right now so I’m looking at ways to improve.

Back in the late '90s I got REALLY into chess, played a bunch on chessclub.com, got fairly good. But ... life happens. Played rarely in the last 18+ years (since my daughter was born, basically). Still love the game, so Zen Chess was the perfect chess 'filler' for me.

Zelda Link's Awakening is officially my first finished Zelda game. Not bad, but as i said, not very linear, pretty obtuse in a frustrating way. But all in all, fun game.
Now a few days wait until Shovel Knight update so maybe some Devolver games to hold me till then.

Haha. That's because as a general rule, I SUCK at boss fights, especially Zelda ones. I think I even sent my Twilight Princess save file to someone (fatty?) to get past a level for me.
When I get frustrated, I just walk. Breath was different. I liked it so much I didn't want to end so I took a break. Now I have to go back. Granted, so many parts I did not complete because I'm not a completionist.

Lol, that wasn't me but I would have tried if asked, haha.
I never finished Wind Waker, now that I am in the mood for Zelda I don't know if I should restart it or another one. BotW looks so tempting though.

If you don't like boss fights, you may not love the final boss of BotW. Granted, I most recently did it in Master mode so the difficulty was ramped way up ... but the original version is no slouch either. Just mentioned to my brother today that I thought the final boss of BotW was my favorite of any Zelda game. Just so epic.

Life is Strange Ep 5. Yup, continues the dark line but a great story IMHO. Though sometimes I'd like to kill Daniel, so annoying.

Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection [PSP]
I wanted to put this in the 2020 thread but I technically finished it at the end of last year. I'm getting back to playing my backlog of JRPGs and figured I would start with this one. Hadn't played it since it came out on the original SNES way back when I was back in middle school. As I get older I don't know if I can do all of the continuous grinding with the battles but it was nice reliving some of those childhood moments. After it was all said and done I probably put around 40 hours into it.
My rating back when I first played it on the SNES: 9.5
Playing it today, how well does it hold up? I give it a 7.5
Music is great, as is the case with all of the Final Fantasy games.
Prelude at the beginning of the game:
Main battle theme:

Thanks UsualNoise for compiling the list!
I've already got a couple to add to 2020 that I will do this weekend. I'm already half way to last year's total!
