I still drool over the Vita hardware but scoff at the Vita software. It's too bad the software has been so weak or I might have been convinced.

So I keep holding out on a new 3DS XL color, and I hear that we're getting one. YAY!! Then I see that it is the yellow Pickachu one. BOO!! Why is it so hard for NOA to release a simple black or white one?? And Target is having a sale next week where the 3DS XLs are $159.99 and I also had a 5% off coupon to boot.

I actually like that yellow one, though I'm not a Pokemon fan.

So, I've been playing with my new 3DS and wanted to mention/question a couple things.
1. It asks me to associate a Mii with my saves in super mario 3D land but there are still only 3 save slots? What's the deal with that? Can't each Mii have his own save? Guess this is just N being N.
2. The bigger issue for me is that I have not yet figured out how to hold the device comfortably and access the buttons. They seem too close to the right side and it makes me put my thmb in an awkward position. After playing for only 15 mins or so, my right thumb is super sore from being forced into an unnatural position. Any thoughts/help?

I just tried it again and kind of held it more from the bottom than from the side. That seemed to help the thumb issue.

Wish I could help bud, but I've never had issues holding the 3DS XL. I think it feels perfectly comfortable in my hands. It may just take some getting used to.
How are you liking Luigi's Mansion? Did you get any other games?

LM seems cool so far. I played around in the first mansion and really enjoyed the humor and interactive nature of the environment. The puzzles seem fun. Then I downloaded SM3DL and started playing it. I think this game kind of grabbed me and I am into world 3 already. Really enjoying the system but need to work . Bad day to Work From Home. The temptation is strong my friend. Here is what I found with holding the system. This hurts: This is better:

Same with Luigi's Mansion IMO. That game is absolutely fantastic. Mario and Luigi are easily the 2 best games on the 3DS right now (note: I have not played Fire Emblem).

I am loving LM as well but play it a lot less than Mario for 1 simple reason. When I got into a mission, I want to explore every nook and cranny. On top of that, I sometimes take a while to solve the puzzle (which usually means looking around randomly until you go where they want you to go). The end result is that I can sometimes spend 40 mins or more before I can save the game and turn my system off. I don't always have 40 mins to devote and I like the more 5-10 min chunks that SML delivers.
I guess I got lucky to grab 2 of the best games on the system right off the bat. I only wish it was easier to let my son enjoy mario. Since it was a download, I am forced to let him play it on my 3DS. Dumb.

My bday next week and I'm toying w/ getting an XL. Don't need it, the last thing I need is another console...but what the heck. My son's bday is the following week and he's asked for Pokemon 3D. My thought is I might as well get both so I can get a free game, bummer that I bought Prof Layton. I suppose Starfox is the one to go for.
Any ideas where to get a deal? Bummer I missed the sale a few weeks back.

I am absolutely shocked they're doing a direct on the 3ds. It's the wii u that needs help.

I agree with the sentiment but given the fact that I own 2 3DS units and 0 Wii U units, I am personally excited to hear what they have

These first two bullets are the only things that were news to me and were also interesting to me. The rest was kind of noise. Personally, I am still happy I bought the 3DS XL and like my blue color. I think it's worth a purchase if yuo have time to play the games there.

A New Game in The Legend of Zelda Series: Nintendo developers are working on a new game set in the world of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which launched for Super NES in 1992. The game makes use of the 3D abilities of Nintendo 3DS, and allows Link to become a drawing and move along walls. A 3D video of the new game is now available to download in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS. The game is scheduled to launch this holiday season.
Yoshi’s Island: The third installment in the beloved franchise is making its way to Nintendo 3DS. Yoshi and Baby Mario are back with flutter jumps, ground pounds and egg throws, plus a host of new actions that use the unique features of Nintendo 3DS. More details about the game, as well as launch timing, will be announced in the future.

1st world decisions.
XL is on sale for $20 off at Target. Should I wait until June to get the $219 Animal Crossing version or just get the red one for $179 and then also use the Club promo to get a free Starfox game? I really like the looks of Animal Crossing but seems like a better value to get the Target/Club combo now. I suppose I can just skin the XL if I want something 'different'. Thoughts?

I don't like the game animal crossing nor the look of the animal crossing XL. So it'd be an easy decision for me.

I think it depends how bad you want the free game. If you really like starfox and such, then go for the deal now. If not, wait for the bundle or a better sale.
