A second player can control cappy? I bought an Xbox X partly because I thought Mario was single player. Ah well. I am enjoying Assassins Creed Origins. I’ll get MARIO and a switch later.

Yeah, it's actually one of the best 2nd player main Mario games in quite a while (other than 3D World, which was designed to be multiplayer). Far better than Galaxy.

Forgot to mention, one of the primary reasons I decided to go with a Switch now was that GameCube adapter news. I was NOT looking forward to lots of money spent on accessories, and now I'll be able to go without any additional controllers for the foreseeable future. I played Mario Odyssey with the joy-cons for myself and a GC controller for my daughter for Cappy - worked great. I don't plan on getting any games in the near future that would require a pro controller, but even if I did I'd likely go with this first to use my Wii U Pro Controllers: www.amazon.com/MAGIC-NS-Wireless-Controller-Bluetooth-controllers-Windows/dp/B07413R4HS/While I was one of the first people to post how irate I was about how much nintendo was charging for a pro controller, I have to say that the Switch pro controller is the best controller out there this generation IMO. $70 is crazy expensive for a controller and my feelings on that won't change, but at the same time I don't regret spending the money to buy one because I've used it so much and really enjoy using it. It's my preferred way to play Switch. Honestly, I'm thinking of getting a second one when they release a color variant I like enough. This truly is a solid controller and as much as I'm a fan of the Gamecube controller, you won't regret getting this one once you get some time with it.

I'm sure I'll get one at some point, just not soon. I'll probably wait until some sort of discount (I've seen $10 at times before I had the Switch). I don't doubt the controller's quality, but I like being able to control when I get it and use other options in the meanwhile. Same goes for extra joy-cons ... I'm sure I'll get them, but $80 isn't too appealing on a budget. I'd rather get some games first.

I completed the Story part of Mario Odyssey and it was pretty spectacular. Even the last boss fight was a good time. I won't count the game as completed as there is still a ton left to do in the game and so I will plan on going back and playing through more. But I wanted to at least chime in and say I finished the story. Really spectacular game.

Just wanted to post that I'm still playing through Odyssey and having a blast. Had my first play session with the Pro Controller (the one I vowed to wait to get but got for $43 through that Google Express deal) and I agree - it is a great controller. For this game it is definitely better than the joy-cons in the caddy and also better than the joy-cons separately (although I played for a while with that setup and it works pretty well).
I can't wait for Metroid Prime 4!

I'll be honest, don't buy extra Joycons. I personally HATE them. The Pro Controller is the best external controller. And you want the motion/rumble function. I have the non-motion version of this: www.amazon.com/dp/B0748S3GXG/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I122U871CRUDNN&colid=1I2YFGGQ5263A&psc=1In my hands, it feels 2nd only to the Pro Controller. I will have to now buy at least one of these because lack of motion sucks on Mario Odyssey. Don't worry about the stand unless you are moving between screens, which I don't. A screen protector would be recommended, especially if it travels or kids use it. Will also protect against screen scratches when docking. Gameswise our favorites are - Zelda - Mario Odyssey Just bought Floor Kids today, we loved it at PAX plus it's the only b-boy game I've ever seen. Have fun

Just in case you hadn't heard, you can get 20% off your first order on Google Express. Can save money on hardware for the Switch or a pro controller. I actually just got an email with another 20% off code. That would be $30 off (max for this offer) the Switch. (Edited to add: I just noticed I have a referral code in Google Express, you get $10 off any order by using it, and I get a credit. Here it is if anyone wants it ... if it stacks with the 20% off code LETSBUY20 let me know. ... Edited *again* to add: no, it does not stack, so don't bother with it unless the LETSBUY20 doesn't work anymore.) I currently only have the Switch, Mario Odyssey, and a pro controller. If you have USB controllers you like the Switch supports many of those at present, including the GameCube 4-port adapter (which is awesome if you happen to have it). Of course you won't get rumble / gyro on those. As far as screen protector I'll second the amFilm one only because I've used screen protectors from them before; the one I have is from Anker and it's great but they don't make it anymore for some reason. I'm waiting for a Best Buy sale on Switch games before buying anything else, but I'm a cheapskate. Best Buy + GCU is the best bet for any new or recent Switch games.

For screen protectors, I'm partial to tempered glass. I'm pretty adept at the film ones, even keeping away dust particles with steaming bowls of water nearby. But the tempered ones are WAY easier to install. I have them on all of our family iPhones and no one's cracked a screen since. And trust me, we've all dropped our iphones, including me.
dschroll is correct on the case, get at least a semi-hardsided one. You'll want that screen protected when the case gets packed inside another bag. Also be careful stuffing the case, it's very easy to put stuff on one side and zip it closed, not realizing the top items are compressing the screen. No damage for us yet, I'm pretty paranoid about that.
I've liked some of the downloadable games like Snipperclips, Wonder Boy, Puyo Puyo Tetris. NBA Street is pretty fun, but my son kicks my ass all the time. Just like way back when w/ NBA Jam. 'Boom shaka lakka' gives me nightmares..

Yep. That's why I stay away from 3rd party stuff. I don't want something bricking my console. Even if Nintendo is the one that is not meeting the spec. I really wish Nintendo would address the cloud save issue. I've put 180 hours into Zelda, another 150 into Splatoon, and right now only 30 into Mario. I don't want to lose ANY of my progress, and it baffles me why they won't let you transfer save files to even a microSD card.

Well, finally jumped on the Switch bandwagon recently when eBay had a 20% coupon so I purchased one from Newegg’s eBay site. Right now, it is sitting in the box still but will be digging into it in the coming week (watching KU hopefully upset Villanova today).
I will be getting Zelda and Mario for sure, but might wait to see if they come out with a version of Zelda with all th DLC. No hurry yet on those though. Might get Blaster Master Zero as my first purchase to have something to play.
