I play a bowling game to get rupees. It's easy to get strikes (there's a trick to it) and you get 300 rupees for each strike. I've found that to be the easiest way to build money up fast for when I need something. Then I don't have to deal with trying to hunt things, cook them, and then sell that off wondering if I just sold something I might need later.
I just hit the 100 shrine marker now. I plan to do a few more side quests and then make my way to the 4th divine beast.

Got Rudania. I'm barely at 30 shrines, for some reason, I'm having a hard time finding shrines around Death Mountain. I may be in the minority but I'm kind of glad that the intermediate boss battles aren't impossible. Otherwise, I'd get stuck and never come back to the game, which always happens. Here, it's challenging enough to try and finish so I can go back to exploring.
Bowling, hmm, hope to find that one. W/ the Amiibos, I'm able to harvest items and use that for a ton of cooking.

Almost all my money has come via mining those black rocks for gems. And a few side quests.

Yeah, I do that mining too. My problem is I'm too impatient and set off the bomb before running and then I lose my hearts...

I rarely use bombs. Keep a durable weapon in your inventory like a sledgehammer for rock breaking (Goron area has some useful rock breaking weapons).

Yeah, I've used sledge hammers and bombs. I'm at the Goron divine beast now. Looking forward to finishing it but my daughter is making me wait until she gets home so she can watch. Ugh...I hate waiting when I'm ready to go

I am playing with my 7 year old daughter and I try to let her do a lot of the actual work. It's frustrating for me because I just want to play and have fun. But I recognize that this may be a defining moment for her. Sometimes we'll sit down to play and she'll spend 2/3 of our available time just messing with her horse. LOL. We're going pretty slowly... needless to say. but she just loves this open world. My frustrations are only as a gamer. As a dad, I am loving it.

Well, I have reached a point in the game where I am ready to finish it. I found about 108 shrines on my own, but struggled finding the last dozen or so. So I ultimately opted for a guide to at least tell me where they were. In some cases, I just downright missed the area they were in and thought I had explored it but clearly did not. In other cases, some of the shrines were so well hidden that there was no way I would've found it anyway. I still solved all the shrines on my own, but just wanted to at least figure out which shrine quests I may have missed or shrines I just never stumbled on.
I've found all 4 fairy fountains and unlocked them all. I've done a series of armor upgrades, but don't have the strongest upgrades yet as it requires me to hunt a lot more guardians. I've armed myself with the best weapons I can find and cooked many meals that give me full recovery. I've maxed out my stamina and hearts. I'found all the memories. I believe it's time for me to head into Hyrule Castle to try and take on Ganon. Will be doing so tonight hopefully. I have no idea what to expect.

Interesting, I'm actually planning on an advance scouting trip into Hyrule castle to grab some loot, weapons and a possible side quest thing. I'm sitting on 3 fairy fountains (good to know I'm only missing one!) and have upgraded most of my clothing / armor to the max levels except for needing some various bugs / plants / misc. parts. I finally hit the last tower on Monday so the map is complete. Still SO many places I have yet to explore but I'm at 70 shrines. I doubt I'll go for all of them before the end of the game. Maybe afterward or on a second playthrough (hard mode FTW!)

Up to 110 hours or so and while I could finish the game, I'm taking my time. I've gone through a good portion of Hyrule Castle and gotten a bunch of gear and money. I'll probably finish soon, only have the 4th beast and final boss to do at this point. I'm at 95 shrines completed. Oh, and still need to find the final memory in Hyrule Castle. Good stuff.

Now that you guys have spent some significant time with the game, I'd love to hear some overall impressions. I still don't have the game yet but have been skimming this thread taking care to stay away from spoilers. Although, I did learn that Ganon is the boss at the end...spoiler alert!...I kid, I kid.
But I'd like to see how you guys rate this compared to other Zelda classics.

Well, beat Ganon today and finished the game. Rewatched all the memories one last time before that and it actually was pretty useful to see it all in chronological order. Finished with 106 shrines and 180 koroks. I'm planning on another playthrough after the summer DLC is out and may attempt a completion run since the korok mask will make them easier to find. Either way, it was a fantastic experience and I look forward to playing it again (maybe after both DLC packs!) in the future.

Congrats UusualNoise. I absolutely plan to play this one again, but am waiting for the fall DLC pack. Definitely a good reason to go back and be in this world more.

Had to have my son finish the 2nd half of the Van Naboris boss battle. I wasn't able to successfully use Magnesis to take it down after something like 40 tries...

So I fought that boss with no tips, tricks, guides or anything. Somehow... and I am not sure how I got so lucky... I beat it on the first try. The only thing I can say is my 7yr old was next to me and made one suggestion that helped. Smart girl!

For whatever reason, I couldn't get that damn rod high enough knock him down. When my son did it, I though, shit, that was too easy. For whatever reason, it wasn't for me.

That was the suggestion she made. Grab a rod and hit him. I ended up just keeping it close until his electric hit it and he shocked himself. Ha.
