Just completed all the DLC today - Trial of the Sword from DLC #1 (hard!) and Champion's Ballad from DLC #2 (hard, but not Trial of the Sword hard). Anyway, it was a pretty epic gaming day to finish both of those. All the main storyline stuff is now done for me, only Side Quests, 11 shrines, and koroks remain. Not sure if I'll ever do that, but I always have master mode untouched! Also: I now own the Master Cycle Zero - I pulled off a driving up to a guardian, jumping off, and nailing it in the eye with an arrow stunt. It was awesome.

I’m very, very late to the party but finally here. It has been interesting reading through some of this thread but I am being careful for spoilers.
This game is huge, and I shouldn’t admit it but my palms would get a bit sweaty when climbing some of those mountains and seeing how high I was. What a beautiful world this is.
I am only a bit in, just got the blue flame for Purah and got caught reading her diary.
One thing about the game that is frustrating is how fast my weapons break. They will frequently break with just one battle! I’m guessing it will get better with better weapons but that is kind of ridiculous and a pain in the butt to keep switching to new weapons.

Welcome to the party! Coincidentally I'm in the midst of my 100% playthrough right now so I'm fully involved in the game (just finished round 2 of trial of the sword).
The weapon issue is one of the few things I've seen people complain about with the game. For me personally it's not a big deal since you end up getting SO MANY weapons during the course of the game, but I can understand the complaint. If you can get used to using the D-pad / left Joy-Con buttons for the "quick switch" it becomes a little less tedious. Where I am in the game I am constantly throwing weapons away I have so many (and I have the slots maxed except for the last one).

Wow, that is a mighty big task, what percentage are you currently at?
I am trying to get used to the D-pad, and it is getting a little better. Where I am at currently the spears are plentiful but not so much for the swords. I try to have a variety (axe, sledgehammer, torch, boomerang, etc.) so the slots for melee weapons I actually use for combat is pretty slim right now.
What would you recommend using the shrines on more in the beginning, stamina or hearts? So far I have a smaller quarter circle extra of stamina and three hearts.

There's no easy way to track percentage unfortunately, although after you beat Ganon you can see what percentage of the map you've visited. I'm doing the major things: all shrines (103/120 so far), all Koroks (390/900 so far), all armor and armor upgrades, all treasure chests (overworld & shrines), and all large monsters (also only kept track of after beating the game).
I'd recommend staying balanced between hearts and stamina to a certain point, although I lean toward stamina once you get far enough into the game to help with faster traveling and longer slowed-time arrow ability.

Funny this topic just came up. My daughter and I have been playing this game since it came out and we finally just beat Ganon last week! We mainly just goof around. Find shrines, do random quests...

I'm still trying to finish this game without looking anything up, but I may end that policy soon. I have 866/900 koroks and still haven't found my last shrine (119/120). I can probably find the shrine (eventually) but it's looking more likely that I'll have to use a map to find some of the missing koroks. Really wish there was a tracker for them like there is for everything else in the game (treasure chests, etc.)

Update: I FINALLY found the last shrine, after collecting 884/900 Koroks. So all I have left is to finish upgrading my armor (including Amiibo-collected outfits) which will take another 40+ star fragments (ugh). At that point I'll probably just look up the remaining Koroks as 250+ hours is sufficient for me. I think I've gotten most or all of the treasure chests in the game as well, but it's hard to know for sure. All I know is the Sheikah sensor no longer detects any in any areas (other than 3 'phantom' chests you can't get ... look it up!) It's been a blast, but I'm ready for another game (and for BOTW 2, please!)
Fun fact: including DLC if you collect all the armor available you will run out of slots. Yeah, it's literally impossible to keep all armor in your inventory - you actually have to sell some off to make room for the last few pieces (6, I think). Odd oversight by the game designers.

Finally finished!
120/120 shrines (+ DLC shrines) 900/900 Koroks All DLC All armor collected (107 pieces total) and fully upgraded All Hyrule Compendium pictures All Talus, Hinox, and Molduga defeated All overworld treasure chests All horse gear Finished game with at least 1 of all 149 available materials in the game
So yeah, it was an effort but it feels good to 100% this game. This is certainly the most time I've ever spent on any one game and it took me about a full year (on and off). Looking forward to the sequel. Not sure about the Hyrule Warriors prequel, but it at least looks interesting.

I’ve gotten back into playing Breath of the Wild where I have now beaten 3 of the ancient beasts. I’m a little more used to the weapons breaking but still wish they were more durable. This game is HUGE. I will go off many times on a tangent and just start exploring. Just finished the dark woods section where you are running around with a torch trying to find the hidden shrine. That was pretty fun, especially taking down the blue hinox.
UsualNoise, props on getting all shrines and 90 koror seeds!! I’m looking for more so I can take more weapons with me, I’ve probably gotten around 15-20 so far lol.

I have next week off. I might dive back in. I left having beat 3 beasts. But it'll take some time to remember where I was...
