Just beat Dark Souls 3. Wow, what a game! I challenge you guys to really take this game on. It is challenging. Very challenging but so well balanced and rewarding. The battle system is so cool. It doesn't have any of the modern "make it easy on my" bullshit. You push the heavy attack button, you are going to do a heavy attack. No canceling out mid strike when you realize the mistake you have made. The environment is just very unique. I didn't think I would like the gloomy design but it really grabbed me after some time.
The enemies are off the charts. They are so imaginative and creepy. I just love them! The MP system is super cool. You can summon another player into your world to help you explore a level or beat a boss. You can invade other people's games and attack them. It's really interesting.
The story of this game is perfectly delivered... in that it hardly is delivered. It's just there in the background and fleshed out through dozens of players online sharing what they have learned. It's like you were dropped into this world that is real but makes no effort to explain itself to you. It owes you nothing. Very unique.
The bosses are HARD. You have to learn their attack patterns and practice on them over and over again.
Here's the best part... the sense of accomplishment and joy when you finally beat one! I haven't felt that since ... well a long time in video games. 16 bit N days?
Play this game. Do yourself a favor, deal with the difficulty, man up and relive your childhood!!

Finally finished The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Probably my least favorite Zelda game, but needed to finish it to complete the Zelda series.

Finished Inside for the PS4. This game was made by the same group that did Limbo, if that helps give you ideas of the type of game you're getting. I won't give any spoilers, but the game is absolutely fantastic. Great puzzles, graphics, sounds, etc. Extremely atmospheric and creepy at times. Really a top notch game, even better than Limbo IMO.
A couple of the puzzles and/or hidden items were not so obvious and it took some time for me to figure them out. I think I had to look for help on one thing, but was able to get everything else. The only beef I have with the game is the ending, which was a bit of a letdown for me. Again, no spoilers, it just wasn't the payoff I was looking for. But I would whole heartedly recommend this game. 9/10.

I won't count it towards my 2017 backlog since I already counted it towards my 2016 one. Just wanted to chime in and say I got all the purple and black coins in super mario run. Those black coins were a challenge but 2 levels in particular were a PITA. You had one shot to get some black coins and if you didn't get it right you had to start the entire level over again. I played many many times til I got it right and I'm sure if I played it now I'd still have to do it several more times before I could get them again.

I'd love to know how many "con glee times" is. Seriously, though, I don't have any Apple devices so I'm still waiting for the Android release to try it out. Stupid Nintendo.

Agent A - Chapter 3. Meh, mediocre update. Also pissed because if you deleted the game you had to play the previous 2 chapters AGAIN in order to play Chapter 3.

Telltale Batman Episode 5
I liked this probably more than dschroll. Overall, if you're a DC fan and like the Telltale series, I'd say this is a no brainer. They took the Batman canon and changed up his origin story, making for a compelling story. The choice of villain here may not have been the most obvious (or even the best), but the ending does give hope for another series.

See, I'm such a long time batman fan that while I appreciate them trying to mix up the origin story a bit, in the end I just couldn't get behind it a ton because they really mess with a key component of Bruce Wayne's wealth. Still, it was fun to play through and I did very much enjoy the game, but I don't have any strong desire for a second playthrough. Onward and Upward

Finished Super Metroid at 100% complete. Overall great game, but I don't think I like it as much as people have heralded it. I love this style of game, but have some bones to pick, such as: 1) I hate one way doors. I get having these gates that you can't open unless you get to the other side of it, but once I open that gate it should stay open simply because it helps create shortcuts since you are typically backtracking a lot in this game. For me to not be able to go back through a gate I just opened up and instead have to work my way around it again, just feels pointless. 2) Before space jump, the wall jump mechanism is terrible. Space jump is MUCH better but still isn't perfect. But I yelled a lot at my Wii U when trying to wall jump out some place only to have Samus fall all the way back down. Ugh. 3) Invisible items or walls that even the X-Ray scanner can't see just is lame. The entire point of the X-Ray scanner is to uncover various secrets, but there were several items or hidden passages in the end that the X-Ray scanner didn't see. You had to essentially know where to look to nab those items because just scanning with your X-ray scanner wouldn't reveal it. I'm still happy I played it as that's been on my list for a long time. I can't get over how fantastic a game that was and that it came out in 1994. Even more, I'm so amazed at how great Retro ported Metroid to 3D and it was such a faithful adaptation. I'm gonna have to play through the Prime games again sometime soon.

#3 was my biggest gripe with the game. I will always love the Prime games (esp the first) as my favorite Metroid games (and favorite of all time). I know many people who are almost offended if you say Super Metroid isn't better, but hey, to me it's not. It's still great, and gets extra points for being fantastic so early (like Mario 64) but honestly I enjoy other Metroid games more.

I enjoyed Super Metroid a lot and can absolutely appreciate how groundbreaking it was for its time, but I had a better experience with Metroid Prime. maybe even Zero Mission.

Heh, that's pretty funny - I almost mentioned enjoying Zero Mission more too but didn't want to be accused of heresy. I suppose this isn't neogaf though ...
