Finished NES Remix 2 - got 3 stars on all levels. Apparently there's a final level to be unlocked by getting ALL RAINBOW STARS. Suffice it to say, I'm not doing that. 3 stars was an achievement on its own.
Really liked NES Remix 1 & 2, I hope they do a 3rd at some point.

Took oldskool's suggestion and played Heavy Rain and now I can count that as my first finished game of 2016.
I really enjoyed the experience. Not so much for the gameplay, but for the story. Yeah, the story itself had its share of problems but for a game to keep me engaged where I wanted to find out what would happen next is rare for me. For example, I love RPGs. And one of the main aspects of many RPGs is the story, but so many are so bad. Especially, Japanese RPGs. They make things so complicated and try to throw so many twists in there along with over-exaggerated acting. Because of that, for the most part I'm playing RPGs just for the game mechanics themselves.
But throw in a simple easy to follow story like Heavy Rain with an RPG and I'm a happy camper. Thing is with Heavy Rain, I didn't like the game play too much. It was a step above a point and click adventure for me. There were a few times where I found the controller movements helped to engage me in the story but for the most part I found them a nuisance.
That being said, because of the story and how it unfolded (there were some choices the player had to make that really impacted the outcome) I still liked it and I want to play Beyond now. Or maybe The Walking Dead or Tales from the Borderlands. I don't know, but another game like this.
Oldskool, thanks for the game and the recommendation! I also watched the other story lines on youtube to see how other choices would play out. I didn't really get the blackouts and finding an origami in his hand after waking up and how it related to the story being told but later saw this video and it makes sense to me (spoilers - don't watch if you haven't played the game and still want to):

fatty, this makes me want to go back and restart the game. I actually love point/click games as long as the story holds.
Can I count LEGO Dimensions if we just finished the basic story line? Yeah, another TTL game but I didn't invest any $$. It was all my son and told him so. That being said, I have to admit, I really like it. I dig how the other worlds of Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, BTTF, etc are all mixed together. It's a VERY odd mashup that seems to work in the LEGO world. We only have 2 Level packs (BTTF & Simpsons) and didn't buy any extra characters and it's still very playable. When this hits the bargain bin, go get it.

Not sure if we're counting DLC or not, but I played the final Batman Arkham Knight DLC called The Season of Infamy. This is BY FAR the best DLC for Arkham Knight. It offers some larger extra side missions that involve several new villains that weren't in the main game. It took a few hours to go through all of the content but it was very satisfying. If you have this game but don't have the season pass, I recommend this DLC. If you do have the season pass, this one is a no brainer and well worth your time.

Argh. Every time I play an Uncharted game I get stuck on a damn BOSS. With Uncharted 1, I'm 80% with the zombies in the dungeon and can't hit both switches fast enough.
Gave up and moved on to Uncharted 2. Now that damn sasquatch thing is chasing me and I can't kill the damn thing. Someone's trying to tell me something.

Besides the bosses, how are you liking the Uncharted games?
Oh and let me know if you are feeling another Heavy Rain playthrough and want me to send the game your way! I'm with you, I like point and click games but they have to have a good story.

Thanks fatty. I still have it, in fact, after your post, I'm considering a replay from the beginning.
Actually, I like the Uncharted series. I truly HATE FPS because I'm awful, but this is a good foray into it. There's 'some' puzzle solving which is more my thing, granted it is a little linear so you have to try hard to get stuck. But that hasn't stopped me... Sometimes I get stuck because I can't see the 'exit' path, but then I watch a quick vid, I found out it's in front of me and it wasn't obvious (to me). Not sure if that has to do w/ the older graphics and it's transfer, though even Uncharted 1 looked great on the PS4. None of the puzzles are that difficult, granted I'm on Normal/Easy most of the time.

Ori and the Blind Forest
This game really hit the spot for me. Metroidvania gameplay style. Beautiful graphics. I really enjoyed it. Two downsides...
1. You can't play more after beating the game. I might have gone off and tried to collect everything I missed. 2. The boss escape challenges felt frustrating. However, this is kind of mixed. Because they felt pretty cool when I finally beat them. So it's a give and take here.
The story was OK. Nothing too moving for me. To me, it was the gameplay and character leveling. That's where I had fun. I recommend it. Great deal on Xbox live when this was on sale.
Kings Quest EP 1.
I also beat Kings Quest Episode 1 with my daughter. We loved it. It brought back a lot of memories for me. It felt like a good KQ game from my childhood modernized for today. My daughter doesn't like video games but she was begging for more of this. I think I need to buy the season pass.

Finished Firewatch today. I enjoyed it. I can see why the forums seem to be rather divided on the game. It's not your traditional game or even your traditional story. People come into it with some expectations of what will and should happen and it pays no attention to those expectations. I actually kind of liked it for that. $20 well spent.

That seems fast. How long did the game take you? Is it something kids can watch or no?

It is well advertised to be a short game of 5-6 hours. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting my kids watch or play it. The adult conversations routinely involve cursing and sometime slant in a sexual direction. On the plus side, there is essentially no violence. I really don't know if you'd like this one Dave. It's hard to say either way. I will say that the story didn't make a lot of sense to me. I'm reading a spoiler thread to see if I can figure it out.

This seems to fit into that well so I'm definitely going to get it. I may just wait for a sale is all.

Just finished The Order 1886. Actually... wow. OK, yeah, the game was just a shooter. Granted. Nothing really to see here.. or wait, was that the point? Yeah, there was plenty to see here because I could not believe how good this game looked. I found myself saying WOW over and over and over at the visuals. And you know, the story wasn't half bad either. The enemy AI was a dumb joke. But overall, I enjoyed it. Glad I finished this one up. There were times that if I were watching a movie, I'd have been happy with the visuals. Man, if the next Elder Scrolls could look that good...

The Order 1886? The werewolf game with three werewolves? I rented it on a free Gamefly trial and got the platinum in 1 day and 8 hours from the time I started it. But yeah, the game was gorgeous as hell.
I'm waiting on the performance patch to start Firewatch.

That's the one. I have a few games that I've started and just never finished. Glad I went back to that one.

I started The Order 1886 a while ago and never finished it. I'll have to go back to that one sometime soon myself. I've mostly been playing Guitar Hero Live and have pretty much gotten to a point where I'm winding down with it now. I've really enjoyed that game a lot and like the different approach they've taken with the guitar and music streaming. I've discovered a number of songs I really enjoy that I never would have even noticed if not for their music channel service.

Finished Kings Quest Episode 2
Wow, that was interesting. The whole chapter is one large puzzle. Overall, we enjoyed it. It was shorter and more confined than the 1st chapter. Ready for #3!
ARE THERE SPOILER TAGS HERE?
Minor spoilers but trying to keep it spoiler free: It made us feel bad right off the bat for not getting it exactly right. So, we restarted several times and the frustration continued to mount. In the end, the situation isn't as stressful as the game makes it seem. You can either figure out the puzzles exactly right and get the best score or not. But it's not so dire.
