Completed Puppeteer on PS3. This was a solid game overall. Decent story, varied gameplay. My only complaint is that sometimes the game throws you into a situation where it doesn't prepare you enough and you end up learning what to do because you died the first time. Overall though, unique graphics, great voice acting and soundtrack, and solid controls overall.
I would give this game an 8/10.

I finished Sly Cooper on PS3. Man, this game has its ups and downs. Overall its not a bad game and has some good platforming elements in it and a cool character. But I thought this game was going to be short and easy, so I would crank through it. It's not as short as I though. Probably 10 hours or so. And it's definitely not as easy as I thought. This game has one hit kills most of the time, and be prepared to replay a lot of levels several times. The game does try and mix things up by offering some levels where you race a car, or support one of the other characters by shooting a gun to stop bad guys while they traverse the level. These mini games are not so great though. The races in particular are not great because the computer racers can go faster than you and you have to memorize the track so you can beat them.
Boss fights were decent, but usually have multiple stages to them. If you die during them (one hit kills, remember?), be ready to start back at Stage 1 on those boss fights...even if you died while on stage 2 or 3.
Getting to the last boss was especially painful as it was just a series of mini games to get to him. And again, multiple playthroughs to beat him. Overall, this was a decent platformer, but it also reminds me of why Nintendo is just the king of platformers IMO. Sly Cooper is a solid game to be sure, but Mario games are just in a whole other class in terms of game design and gameplay.
7/10

Final game of 2016 for me was Splatoon. I've played the crap out of mutliplayer but never touched the single player campaign. I decided I'd crank through the single player campaign so I can count this game as completed.
From the reviews I'd read of the campaign, I figured it would be a cake walk. For the most part, it is until the last few stages. Those stages definitely put up some tough challenges, especially the final boss, which is WAY harder than any of the other bosses. In usual Nintendo fashion, there's next to no story here and what little is there is not very interesting. Still, if you're looking for a break from the multiplayer (although I never was as its so flippin good) then this will kill a few hours. Expect the campaign to last 4-6 hours depending on how many times you replay a level.
Splatoon was a game that I had no interest in and my daughter convinced me to get it (she liked the colors in it). This game was such a fantastic surprise. My entire family immediately took to this game and we played multiplayer for hours on end. I'm not a multiplayer gamer (almost always campaign and that's it). Splatoon was the first time I'ver ever brushed off a campaign in a game to do multiplayer instead. It was such an awesome game and I do hope they make a lot of updates on the Switch version. It will be interesting to see how that game comes out because the touch screen is such a valuable tool in the multiplayer game.

Wow! Thanks UsualNoise for tallying that up. I really tried to make a big push to finish out a few games before the year was over. This thread really motivates me to keep at it and get through some of my ever-growing backlog Everyone did a great job (even fatty). Life always keeps us busy, so it's great to make time and enjoy the things we love (gaming or otherwise). 2017 I am going to tackle some games that I have been putting off for a long while, such as Mass Effect on my 360, Super Metroid, GTA 5, Bayonetta, etc. I have so many great games and it's time I start really sinking my teeth into them more. Plus I'm really getting into retro gaming thanks to junkman. I recently snagged an everdrive for my SNES and N64, so I'm looking forward to checking out some great games on those systems. I'm really interested in snagging a Genesis and Dreamcast this year as well.

I missed Destiny: Rise of Iron, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, and the Division. The first two are great games. Oh and I guess I beat Limbo on Dec 31st.
